  • Photographers! Whats in your bag?

Ever since I got my pass in 2009, Disneyland has inspired me to become a hobbyist in photography. Since I am just one of many who love to take pictures in the park I thought it would be fun to see what kind of gear everyone has (DSLR or Point and shoot!) in their bag. Feel free to post some of your favorite shots while your at it!

    I'll start off!

    I have a Canon Rebel T1i
    Lenses
    18-55mm IS Kit lens
    50mm Canon EF 1.8
    30mm Sigma EX 1.4
    Bag
    Crumpler 4 million dollar home

Some of my Favorite shots =)

Re: Photographers! Whats in your bag?

I still have yet to have a chance to bring my entire camera bag (which isn't that much really) to Disneyland with me for a day of devoted photography.
But if I did take my bag...

Bag: Lowpro SlingShot 100AW (nice small bag)

    Camera: Canon Rebel XSi
Lenses: Canon 18-55mm IS (kit lens)
    Canon 70-300mm USM IS

Sort of limited on my lenses, but eh. I don't have the money to buy a bunch of cool lenses like a wide-angle.
The one thing I would like to bring, but don't want to lug around the park with me, is my tripod. I might check out that string tripod thing that was posted on another thread.

      Gorgeous shots!

I used to bring my entire camera bag containing my Canon Digital Rebel XT and my 24mm, 50mm, and 100mm lenses, along with extra batteries and whatnot. Nowadays, I usually just put a lens on the camera, swath the whole thing in a towel for protection, and put it in my backpack. Helps me travel lighter.

Re: Photographers! Whats in your bag?

There is quite a bit in my bag...in fact it is sort of heavy and I have stopped taking it to DL. So when I go now it's with a small point and shoot. I use my "real" camera for other trips and macro shots. I love macro photography.

Re: Photographers! Whats in your bag?

I have a canon gadget bag, with a ton of stuff crammed into it. One of these days I'm going to get the Canon backpack, though I really like having access to the current bag on my side for quick change of lenses.

This is my mostly complete list. There's a few odds & ends, but this is the bulk of it.
          • Canon 7D with battery grip & Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 lens & UV Filter, with a Microfiber cleaning cloth in a pouch attached to the neck strap
          • Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 (Digital Rebel XT Kit Lens) & UV filter
          • Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 & UV filter
          • Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 & UV filter
          • Canon Speedlite 430EX II with The Rosco Strobist Collection Gel Pack & a Sto-Fen omni-bounce diffuser
          • Canon Digital Rebel XT for a backup/secondary camera

As well as a ton of other accessories:

          • 3-axis bubble level that fits into my camera's hotshoe
          • Opteka off-camera flash sync cord
          • Giottos Rocket Blaster (easier than keeping a can of air in my bag)
          • Eclipse cleaning solution
          • PEC-PADs
          • Lens Pen
          • 5x 8GB SanDisk Ultra CF cards
          • 2x 4GB SanDisk Ultra II CF Cards
          • 1x 1GB SanDisk Ultra II CF Card
          • Lots of AA Batteries for the flash, or as an emergency backup for the 7D
          • 2 camera batteries for each camera - the 7D has both in at once, the XT has a spare
          My Picture Threads:

Disneyland Trip - May 31st - June 4th (PICTURE HEAVY)
Disneyland Trip - January 18th-24th 2010 (PIC HEAVY)

I have the canon backpack and it is very heavy once it gets filled up. As I mentioned I just don't take that camera to DL anymore. For disney photos the point and shoot works fine. It is a canon point and shoot and it does allow me to control shutter speed and aperture still.

I have a little Sony Cyber-shot 4.1 that was a gift 5 years ago. It fits in my fanny pack quite easily. Here are two shots from it:

              sigpic
Hidden Mickey - Historical fiction about Walt that mixes action and mystery with time travel and fantasy! Tweens to adults will enjoy these novels. And now, three gamebooks to play in Disneyland, DCA and WDW Magic Kingdom!

Check out my six action/adventure novels about Walt's lost diary and his epic quest. Visit my blog page!

Re: Photographers! Whats in your bag?

Thanks for this thread, CreBs07, and thanks for everyone for these shots so far.

I've been shooting with a Nikon D90, but use the Lumix LX3 when I'm out with the kids.

When I shoot with the D90, I usually have:

Nikkor 18-200 VR (Favorite walk around lens when I don't have time to change lenses.)

Sigma 10-20 - (Favorite wide angle lens.)

Nikkor 105mm 2.8 VR Micro. (For Macro and portraits)

                Nikkor 50, 1.4
                Nikkor 35, 1.8
                Nikkor 70-300 VR
Sigma 150-500 (I only take this out once in a while as it's a boat anchor.)

and my latest purchase, which was the Pro Optic 8mm Fisheye.

And....now I'm officially out of money.

Here's a few of my latest shots:

I forgot to add pictures to my gear post, so here's my favorites. These were actually taken with the Rebel XT & 18-55mm lens or 50mm f.1.8

Not even close, but thank you. There are more than a few around here who have been doing this a lot longer than I have. And I would also have to point out that it is only because of the amazing photographers on micechat, both past and present, that I went out and purchased a DSLR in the first place. Four years ago, I had a fairly decent video camera and that was about it. I had a Canon AE-1 in college, but it was gathering dust, and I didn't own a digital camera. Then I joined Micechat and saw some of the amazing photos on here by a number of different photographers, and I "borrowed" a Nikon D60 from work and was hooked. Within a couple of months I had asked for a Nikon D70 for Christmas, and I've been shooting like a maniac ever since.

So...without Micechat, I honestly don't know if I would have really gotten back into photography. Maybe someday...it's hard to say. But I can honestly blame my photographic obsession on Micechat.

Thanks to all of you who continue to inspire me to take better photos!

I've already seen a number of photos in this thread that have given me ideas on what to try next. :whistling:
