  • Let's help Dsnylndmom Find a New Phone!

Dsnylndmom may be getting a new cell phone. I have some ideas for her.

You should stay away from the Nokia phones, if you can help it. They have the absolute worst battery life.

Here is a nice Samsung camera phone.

The bottom of the line Samsung flip phone isn't that much less than the camera phone.

    Anyone else have any suggestions?

    I like my Motorola.

Personally... Tina... put a cover on that thing!! Helps keep it scratch free. When you're going out with friends, THEN take the cover off to make yourself look cool.
She walks in beauty, like the night
    Of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that's best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes.....

If you use iTunes for your music, Motorola is coming out with a iTunes-enabled phone soon.

I have a Sprint video phone. Little Samsung flip jobby. I love it. You never know when you'll need a camera. Had dinner with a friend in LA a few months ago and when we got back, someone had parked their car touching his bumper. Not just touching, you could tell that it had dented my friend's car. So I took a picture of the accident and the guy's license plate. Handy little feature.

Figment is right that it depends on what provider you're using.

If you don't have a provider already, I reccomend one using GSM, which is currently T-Mobile or the AT&T/Cingular duo.

Thanks Mamabot! I have a Verizon LGsomethin' right now but my husband's business is getting Sprint(I think it's Sprint LOL)and since I"m an "owner" I get a new phone too. I hate giving up my verizon since Disguy & I have a tm addiction problem and I love being able to use our little smilies(and the cocktail )

                    So my Sprint requirements are:
                    Picture Phone
                    Good Texting ability
                    Speakerphone

so I get to browse the Sprint site and look through the phones they have! I'm liking a few Samsung phones, I mean if Dusty uses them they MUST be good!

I have an LG camera flippy doodle thingie. It takes awesome pics, has great reception (AT&T/Cingular) and it's really clear and loud. The reception on my old phone sucked.

I haven't downloaded a new ring, because I dig my "Lounge" ring...it's like 70's porn music!!! The other day I heard Chloe humming the tune.....I had to stop and think WHY is my child humming porn music???

The newer phones can have the Hi-fi ring tones... meaning.. instead of.. do dodo, do.... you get.. I love you all night long... or something else...

Real sound... more expensive but nicer.....

(t-moble chatges $2 for Hi-fi and $1.50 for mega regular tones...)

The most important thing when going to a new provider is that you can cancel and return the phone in a certain time period. You can't believe the maps they give you and the salespeople don't know where all the little black holes are. It is nice to have a fancy phone but not so great if the phone does not work.

I don't know about anyone else, but I have a Nokia 3595 and I love it.

The battery lasts at least a week without being charged, although I usually charge it back up every few days.

Hey DisneylandMom - Have you 'pulled the trigger' on the phone purchase yet, or is this still in process? Because you might want to have someone else from the company loan you one of their Sprint phones for the day before you switch providers and cancel your old service. They will let you cancel out of the new contract, but it's a hassle.

I've been in lots of places where I had a solid Verizon Wireless signal and the other person's Sprint phone was DOA. If it happens to you once or twice you can laugh it off  - but if it happens too often, it stops being funny real fast.

Fun is having to tell someone "I'll call you right back - we're at Haunted Mansion and the lap-bar just lowered itself." And seeing you still have a three-bar signal.

Agree with Bruce. Verizon is better than Sprint.

OMG I must be the only person without a cell phone in the world, my husband has one, my daughters have theirs which are entirely useless to me since when the mom ring sounds it up to their discretion if they want to answer it or not. Dont get me wrong I have had one ...the first time i was loading groceries in the car and my husband called and said did you get whatever the heck it was at the store and i didnt I just looked at the darn thing and said I dont need this as i trotted back into the store, the second one took up space on the counter since I never took it with me so bye bye it went. When I go out and my husband is home he gives me his so he can reach me oh boy!!! And the girls think I am an idiot for not having one , because thats only when they want to call me and think I should answer it for them LOL. I run a business that requires me to be on the phone most of the day , I resent having a phone attached when I am at leisure. Its the only modren day tech that I just resist, of course I am in a place that I dont have small children to worry about.
