I propose that this board needs some "hacks" in the near or distant future that admins install.....
one of them should be spell check....

Hacks are add-ons for the boards... you have to have admin access to "Hack" the code to add it on... I know what I am saying.
Many boards use the term "Hack" when adding/installing new things....
(I know FTN has many "hacks" like the arcade & spell check....)
Even on the official V-Bulliten site.. they refer them as "Hacks"
Words have more than one meaning in this age.... Hacker is one to gain access illegally.. Hacked is did it....
Hack is an add-on....

Just read it for yourself.... 3A is the term of the word i am using..
(and not all computers can be running alot of things at once.. i know my school computers sometimes crash with a word processor & webpage open.... and those are macs...)Comment

That definition is misleading for two reasons. First, it says 'informal' right in front of it meaning that it's not the regular use of the word. Second, it is assuming that the program being altered is yours, hence the phrase 'hacked her text editor to read HTML'. Altering something that's not your would fall under the normal definition. If you say 'I'm going to alter the messege board to do a spell check', the messege board is not yours so you are exploiting the code illigally.Originally posted by figment1986

Actually I was posting this for admins to see.. and if anyone else had any other hacks to propose...
and my school uses Imacs.. (thought they are slowly getting emacs in every room with osX.. Just by the time i graduate.. they will still not be finnished..)Comment
