I'm at a loss for words. Firefox may be the wonder browser of today, but like Steve Jobs' and Bill Gates' products, many of it's features were borrowed. Mainly from Opera and Netscape.

Besides, with so many of Mozilla's coders taking jobs with Google and IBM and with IE7 coming out this summer (including tabbed browsing, CSS2 support, and better security), where will Firefox be in a year.

I think in the same grave yard Netscape ended up in.

Use XP with SP2 and configure IE6 correctly. Except for the tabs, it is safer than FF. No adware, spyware, popups, ActiveX, etc. Period.

Firefox is a good browser. So is Opera and Knoquerer, which I use on my Linux box. But don't trash IE just because you don't know how to use it.

Actually, still no CSS2 in IE7. And I DO know how to configure and use IE6, and you know what? It's rubbish.

I love FireFox. I also have Netscape and IE, I only use them for testing webpages.

If you have a Mac, it pretty much pales to Safari as it feels like a cruddy port. Functions are broken (see my rant in the middle click in the browser poll thread,) and you get that generic Windowsesque feeling instead of a Mac-like Aqua interface.

However, if you really like the Mozilla/Gecko engine and you're a Mac user, then try Camino, which is another Mozilla project just like Firefox.

I shall disagree with this. Using IE is not just asking for drive-by installations of software that you're unaware of, and it's not just a risk to damaging your browser, it's a risk to damaging your entire OS thanks to how strongly it's bonded with Windows.

Yes, if you turn off a bunch of things and you're educated on running Ad-Aware/SpyBot to remove the programs that come in through exploits that Microsoft has yet to patch, then IE can be used. But the knowledge needed for all that is beyond most users, which is why simply moving to Firefox is better off.

Plus, I'd rather have Firefox with tabs and extensions (presuming the stupid devs don't break them again) than using a crappy IE wrapper if I want more features.

As a web developer who runs many sites I would like to point out that running things like Firefox Ad-block full time hurts the websites you visit. Bandwidth is expensive and ads pay for the majority of free content you enjoy on the web (this site included!). Do your favorite sites a favor and at least leave the ads there. Show them a little love. :-)

That is why I always click on the Goggle ads here to help pay for the site.

The only decent product Microsoft makes is Office.

I have more respect for a PC running Linux.
