  • DVD ripping

    Hi everyone
I made my first proper film today at school for my GCSE Media Studies course, and I got to burn it to a DVD and take it home. Now I want to rip it to my PC so I can show my friends etc, but I haven't a clue how? I've tried Windows Media Player but that only rips CDs, and Windows MovieMaker won't help.

Anything that is easy to use for a half-geek?

          Re: DVD ripping

I usually use Smart Ripper to rip the files off DVDs. However, as DVDs are encoded as .VOB files, that's what SmartRipper creates on your harddrive (and as such, you may need a few gigs free on your hard drive before you rip it). You can then use the VirtualDub MPEG mod (and the AC3 codec, which is also linked to on that page) to convert the file to .avi or another file format.

I do it with Handbrake for the computer and handbrake lite for the iPod. Try for it
