  • Camcorder Recommendations

I'm looking for an affordable, simple, yet good quality camcorder. Seeing as though I'm 15 years old, I don't need it to be packed with features, complex controls, and all that jazz. I'd like a compact one that's easy to carry around, with a decent quality picture (bearably noisy in bright environments and grainy in low-light). A camera light isn't necessary as long as it has a night shot capability. An electric viewfinder that flips up would be a plus since I like to save my battery life.

Some of the choices I'm considering are:
    Sony Handycam DCR-HC32
    Canon Elura 80

If I could get your input or other budget camcorder options for me, it'd be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I don't know what brand (I totally forgot), but if it is for some one day trip, get the hard drive camcorders. All you have to do is plug it into the computer and there you go. Thing is, it only takes 4 hours or something. Not sure, but otherwise, I'd go with Sony.

Edit: Oh, those are over $500. Forget it. I'm researching for you (:

      Edit: Here you go:

Edit, yet again: And here cheaper ones that aren't hard drive:,,qn=...+%24300,00.asp

Sorry, I have nothing to do this morning. But there (:

Wow, thanks for taking the time to do some research for me!

I was researching hard drive based camcorders, too. The only thing with JVC is that the image quality isn't the greatest, but you get what you pay for. Heh. I was thinking of getting the Sony Handycam DCR-SR100, but it's $1000. My parents said I could get it for my 16th birthday 'cause we're going to London, but now I guess that's out of the question since the whole terror plot. I'm taking the Everios into consideration, though. Thanks again!
