  • Did I get a good deal?

I bought a Western Digital 160 GB hard drive at Office Depot for 120 bucks with a 50 dollar mail-in rebate. Do you think I got a good deal on it?

Unless it's a laptop hard drive, or a SCSI drive you paid too much.

You didn't mention any interface, speeds, or other specs, but the going rate for an internal 160GB drive is around $50-$60, without any rebates.

How much do you know about replacing HD's? Are you familiar with the different types of interfaces, speeds, cache, etc? If so, shop online for one. I've used NewEgg multiple times and have been very satisfied.

Ah...ok, so it's external. Then that's not a bad price.

Here is what I figure is the same drive on newegg.com

So, it doesn't look like you did much different.
Is the mail in rebate from Office Depot only? (Probably, since I don't see it anywhere else). If so, then that would make it a pretty good buy.
