  • New Digital Camera (and cute dog picture)

So after my fiasco at my last trip to Disneyland where I took my film camera, took 3 and a half rolls worth of pictures only to have one roll come out, I made it my mission to go digital.

It took me awhile to decide on a brand. Kodak, HP and Sony were early eliminations because of bad experience with the companies. Nikon was eliminated by lack of selection, Olympus because of their desire to only use their own memory cards. I finally decided on a Canon. Because it has a nice handgrip, I like my dad's canon and it was a good price.

So today I bought myself a Canon Powershot A530 at Sears. It was 189.99 on sale, so was about 200 after tax. I almost bought myself a bigger memory card and went to Best Buy to buy a card reader.

This is the result, the first picture taken of my dog Zoe. I tried to get it far away, but she was too interested in the weird sounds it was making. I was floored by the inital quality, I could see details on her muzzle that I can't see even close up.

    Awwwww, what a cute doggy!

You're going to LOVE going digital (if you don't already!) And I think you made a good choice - Canon makes some really stellar cameras.
    She did it!

Just got to convince my parents to make a trip in December. I've been trying the guilt trip because of my film fiasco.

And for those curious, Zoe is a pit bull/german shepard mutt.

cool. picture...I have always bought olympus until I bought the digital SLR and they can use any brand of memery card...you just can't take the panaromic shots with the other cards, but I never used that featire anyway and if I wanted to do one I just edited 3 normal pictures in photoshop......my digi slr is canon...I do love the canon brand.

You made a great choice in Canon. I have one as well and really love it. The Canon batteries are amazingly long lasting on a charge. Looks like you are off to a great start. Nice Dog picture for sure.
