  • MP3 player for a child, any idea's?

my soon to be 6 year old wants an ipod, no way am I getting him this now, when he is older yeah. But he wants to listen to his music and so what kind do you get a kid? he takes wonderful care of his electronics. he has had a game boy advance sp and makes sure its in its case and put away after each game play. he is awsome with the leapster to. so I am thinking he will be fine with the mp3 player but I do not want to put out a lot of cash for it. ( christmas present) any idea's?

Toys R Us and Target usually have them on super sale in the fall before Christmas. You can get one for $30-$40.

I saw the Disney mp3 i think they have one in silver and black with Mickey or Jack Skellington. They also have the caring case as well.

I think the Disney ones are the same price as the Shuffle. I'd go with the Shuffle though.

I agree with the iPod shuffle. However, I'd make sure you find an OLD iPod shuffle. The new second generation iPod shuffles are much smaller than the originals.

Don't do an iPod, because then you have to use iTunes and it gets all confusing for a six year old. While iTunes is a decent program for adults, I think a 6 year old would be confused, especially with the music store and what else.

Get some little flash player with MP3 playing. It shows up in Windows as a connected drive and you just drag the icons of your songs to it, no iTunes or anything else necessary.

I plan to add the music for him, and we have lots of disney cds so an ipod would be no problem. I also have kids bop, and so any other music cds. he loves the song in the jail house now... and move it on over by hank williams

I'm thinking the iPod shuffle might be good, since you already have iTunes on your computer already. Then you can just make him a kid-friendly play list and set him up. The shuffle is really easy- it has no screen, just the basic buttons.

Apple.com has refurbished original gen iPod Shuffles staring at $49 in their store and they come with a free arm band or a free external battery pack. They also have original gen 2 gig iPod Nanos for $99 in black or white. Both come with an Apple one year warranty and 90 days of phone support. You can also add an extended service plan that is for 2 years.

To get to the refurbs, click on "store", then go down toward the bottom on the right side where it says, "Save" and you'll find way too many iPods to choose from.

Nope. You can put any MP3 on them. I think you may be thinking of the music cards they sell for it that has the Disney Channel type stuff on them.
