  • Tiger - Roar! I sooo love the latest OS X!

Widgets are my favorite new feature so far. I have been downloading new ones left and right. I already have my weather widget watching the weather in Orlando. I need to set up a weather widget for Carslbad too.

Here are some of the widgets I have downloaded:

    Amazon
    IMDb
    NHL Lockout Timer
    iTunes Music Store
    Yahoo Local Traffic

My widgets were downloaded from the OS X website:

Anyone else install Tiger on their computer?

Interesting timing.... I just got my update for 10.3.9 and it hosed my Safari and failed to install correctly. The only fix is to get Tiger. this had better be good.

I agree! Tiger rocks big time!

I also appreciate the very quick start up, versus Panther (Which was an improvement over Jaguar as well!)

Widgets are cool, but the thing that really roars is "Spotlight". No more searching and searching for that file you know is "somewhere...".

I love Dashboard. I haven't really used Spotlight yet, and will probably never use that Automator thing... But Dashboard is actually nifty. I use it for my blog, as an agenda, as a dictionary, as a calculator, and for the first time ever I actually know what day it is and what the weather will be like tomorrow. Fab.

I have an older Mac - a 400MHZ G4. Is anyone running Tiger on a machine similar to mine? Tiger has some great sounding features, but I hesitate to move to it if it won't run well on an older machine like mine. I'll ask at the Apple Store if nobody here knows. TIA

You need lots of RAM (1G) and as much processing as you can for Tiger. Like 1G or more. You can do it but you better get used to the beach ball. I have Panther on a G3 imac DV and it slowed it down, even after adding RAM. Tiger is pretty nice, the spotlight feature is good to search with.

My brother has had some issues with Tiger on his powerbook that is 4 years old. Running a little sluggish. I would make sure that your machine has enough memeory to handle Tiger.

My first generation iMac "sunflower" at work is running okay with it. I have noticed that I am having more frequent software crashes. Plus, the Force Quit feature has been slow to kick in.

You would love it. I prefer the Mac OS over the Windows OS any day of the week.

I just bought a new Mac Mini with Tiger OS X. I'm in love!!! It is soooooo fantastic. After a lifetime of using windows I had no idea a Mac would be this cool. WOW.

I'm so hooked already. Went out and bought an iPod Mini to go with the Mac. hehehehe. They look so cute together.

I picked up an U2 Ipod a couple of weeks ago. Yeah crazy, but I like the band. And I love the Ipod. This is a great instrument for my long rides. The Mac store in my area was giving demos of TIGER, when it came out. Apple is just amazing and keeps on creating!! I almost regret going over to the Dark side.

Strange??!! No you sound totally normal and ok to me!! Every time I have to touch a PC I want to throw it against a wall somewhere!

I have had my new G5 Tower with Tiger for about... 3 weeks now I think? I upgraded from a 333 iMac running OS 9.0 to this. Holy cow... my only issue is that between work and other stuff I can count the number of hours I've actually got to play with my new toy on my fingers!! It is soooo very cool, but even though I've been an Apple user from the days of the IIe, this is going to take me some time to really learn Tiger. It has some very great features, not the least of which is the stability. One of the first things I did was put a shareware game on it that promptly crashed. But only the game went down, the rest of the machine kept on going! Not having to totally reboot when an app quits is a major issue for me, since I have a tendency to put a lot of...uh... stuff on my machines!!

                                  Oh yeah... Tiger Rocks!!!

Is anyone else getting severe memory leaks from widgets? I turn on some widgets(the weather one for example) and after a while it starts eating up RAM like nothing else and I can't use my computer until I sludge my way over to quitting that widget.
