  • Why doesn't searching work?

Well, why doesn't it? For example, I wanted to find the topic:

    Your favorite "Walt Disney" attraction

..which is in the Disneyland Resort forum and is from 5/11. So I search titles only for "walt" - doesn't come up in the results.

Why not? If I go and search titles only for "favorite" - it comes up. What's the story?

This is probably why I can't find other threads that I have been looking for.

I know. The search function has pretty much never worked for me either. Oh well, I hardly ever need it anyway.

I use it all the time and think it works well. Just a key word or two usually brings up choices. Having started some threads, I've always done some thorough searches before posting.

I think you have to have more than five letters in each word for the search to work.

        Sorry!

^From experience, that seems to be the case. So please -- nobody start a thread where all the words in the title are less than 5 letters long! "See spot run" would never be seen again!

I believe it's a vBulletin thing, and not a MiceChat thing, so it's just a minor annoyance to deal with.

Use astericks to fill out the words. For example, search for "Walt** Disney" and search in thread titles only. Advanced search if a much better way to go if you really want to find something.

Actually it is a vB thing. How vB works, is that it catalogs every word, in every post if it's above X number of letters (we have it set above 4, to keep the server load down). So when you search, your actually searching not through the posts, but of a database of words. Occasionally, this database is flushed, and renewed, for better searching.
