  • Office XP/2003/2007 Opinions ?

So I have a trial version of Office 2003 on my new machine. So far I have been using Office XP.

And of course we have 2007 coming out soon.

Any opinions on which version is best ??

As I understand it there are some compatability issues between versions.

I had planned on loading XP onto the new machine, but with 2003 available I don't have to mess with calling MS and getting code so I can load it onto new machine.

Hello tiggerfan. I have not loaded Office 2007 yet so I don't know practically but it is really cool from what I heard it is totally redesigned. Office 2007 is a bit pricey if it did not come with your system so if you have a copy of Office XP I would say go ahead and load it. If you want to check out the User Interface of Office 2007 you can go here: https://www.runaware.com/microsoft/e...fice/td/launch
Microsoft is offering a demo of the 2007 suite. The menus are graphic based and totally different but it is supposed to make for a better user experience.
I will let you know my thoughts when we install this at work.
Found this about the compatibility issues: http://technet2.microsoft.com/Office...1210e1033.mspx

Thanks fnatc, I am figuring to use the 2003 demo and see if I like it, then if I do, the release of 2007 should drive down cost of 2003.

But I will keep y'all updated on Office and my new laptop

I've been in love with Office 2007. Simply put, the new interface lays everything out better than any of the previous office versions did.

As for compatability issues, there is none at all. Office 2007 opens all Office 97-2003 documents, and can save to the legacy formats as well.

Generally, when Office 2k7 comes out, you should be able to find the basic edition as cheap as the current 2k3 prices.

We have Office 2003 at work and I like it fine. I have Office 2000 here at home (got it for free so not complaining).
