  • CDs: Mark with the right pen please!

After a conversation in MC Gold, I figured I would share the following information in the Tech Lounge.

When you write on your disks, please please please remember to use a pen that is made for CDsDVDs. My brother knew a sound guy that worked at Disney. He put his entire library on back up CDs and wrote on them with a regular Sharpie. The ink deteriorated the CDs over time and he lost his whole library. Very sad.

I found this on a google search:

    http://www.mscience.com/faq508.html

Sharpie does sell a pen that is compatible with CD media:

I bought mine for work through Office Depot.

Anything listed on the park maps as an attraction is fair game for inclusion in the Rally.
I cannot confirm nor deny the inclusion of any attraction in the Rally.

May the Gumballs Be with You...Always.

Yep that is exactly what they do. Sharpie ink eats right through the discs and kills anything on there. I had a copy of the movie ClockWork Orange that was affected by this.

        Whoops.

I don't know why but my CD that used a sharpie on are still after having them for a few years, but my siblings CDs are a mess of spots, but they haven't used those in years.

I never write on my CD's with Markers because it could do some damage. You should also keep them straight up rather than laying down flat on the surface. The government did studies years ago that show that the data side of the discs could get warped that way.

Thanks for the suggestion Mamabot .

Yikes. Most of my CDs have sharpie ink on them.

Holy cow... I almost always write on them with a Sharpie! Guess I'd better back up-Stat!

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...
