  • Digital Camera Pics to Computer

Hi, I just got a new computer and can't figure out how to get my digi camera pics onto my computer.
It's just an HP w/Win XP.
In my old one, the removable disc would show up in My Computer.
Here they all show up but the camera wasn't connected to any.

It's not "Plug and Play" since that option doesn't come up.
Nor is it in the "Scanners and Cameras" list of camera.

It IS plugged into the correct plug and it IS on the correct setting on the camera.

    oh it's a Sony Cybershot DSC S60.

    Help
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

Well, this is the only software that came up:
Package™ Picture Package™ Writing Engine Updater - Improves compatibility with certain optical (CD/DVD) drives and adds support for new optical drives. See more..

would that be the right one?
XP help did mention a disk but if my camera came w/a disk I have no clue where it is!

I just hook the camera up to the usb cable, click my computer and find the camera "drive", click that, select all copy and paste into folder. I have never installed the camera software for any of my digi cams.

however. my lap top has an integreated card reader. I just put the memeory card in that and follow the same copy paste into folder technique,

Right. That's what I used to do, but it's not working on this computer.

What's a multi card reader? I have the cable that came with the camera.

Its a drive that you can just put your memory card into instead of attaching your camera to the computer.

I dunno NNL,I can just plug my camera into the computer and it locates it. Maybe try restarting and see if that works?

just guessing at this point since I'm not there and I'm hands on, but maybe you need to install the driver.

I see that I am not the only one with computer woes. I just think that It is great the way MiceChatters always come to the rescue. I wish you well on getting your pictures into your computer.

Best solution to camera interoperability and similar issues.. skip them all together.

Get a media reader and never plug your camera into the computer again. You also have the advantage that if anyone comes over.. you can easily take photos off their camera for yourself without any fuss.

They are stupidly cheap and millions to chose from. Most are very cheap and practically disposible. I just bought a new one for my wife's PC. Got it yesterday, works as advertised and looks decent enough. $12

I'm suprised to hear of your woes though.. XP is VERY good with camera support and the scanner/camera wizard.

Thankfully I have a media computer so it came with a built-in multi card reader.
