UPGRADE

The forums will be upgraded to the latest software version on 9/26/17 at 9:30pm PDT. The upgrade should only take a few minutes. During the upgrade you might experience errors, but they will go away once the upgrade is completed. This is not the upgrade/move we have been discussing for the past few months. This is just normal, minor maintenance. Thank you.

  • Movie Making Software?

I've been using Studio 9 (from Pinnacle) and absolutely hate it. I love it's features and all that it has, but it just doesn't work! It continually sends out non responsive errors and shuts down constantly.

I need something that's going to work! I have tons of video and pictures and just want to put it to music. Windows Movie Maker is too small - and I'm not sure that I want to make the investment to get Vegas Video -

    so, any ideas?

I use Ulead Video. It's relatively cheap, easy to use, not as robust as some, but is adequate for my needs.

You need at least Studio 9 PLUS. Studio 9 is known to crash on many machines (mine included). I upgraded to Studio 10 Plus(for a mere $39), and it is faster, and more stable - haven't had a problem with it.

Don't like Ulead - too many frills and not much meat.

Vegas is good too, but Premiere is best.

I do have studio 9 plus - it can't handle the video or something. Their customer service was a joke. Maybe I should cough up the money for 10 and if that doesn't work, throw it all out the window????

I use Premiere and I love it.

The only time I use Windows Movie Maker is when I'm compressing for YouTube.

Adobe Premier, but Final Cut is still my editor of choice.

                  Re: Movie Making Software?

I currently use Ulead for editing my vids (along with Windows Movie Maker). However, if you want the best in business you need to go with either Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro (Apple Computer required).

Sony Vegas is nice, but I've heard its a huge resource hog. It really depends on what you want it for. Many professional studios (that includes the big ones too) use Final Cut Pro. But if your looking for something just to edit vids together without needing the fancy frills, just look into Movie Maker on Windows or Ulead.

You have heard correct. Especially for Hi-Def videos, but Its almost worth the extra resources, you can cut a VERY smooth video together.

I use both Adobe Premier pro and Final Cut. Both will do almost anything that you can think of. For really fancy special effects switch over to Adobe After Effects.
