  • Can't view YouTube in Vista

I could before, but for some reason, now I can't. I've tried both Firefox and IE. Java is enabled on both and I have the latest version of the Flash player installed.

Am I missing something? I can see it find on my desktop that runs XP but not my laptop that runs Vista. Like I mentioned, it could before.

    Hope someone can help!

Sometimes, the Adobe Flash Plugin can get borked. Use the manual uninstaller here, and then install it again. YouTube only needs flash, so that has to be the problem.

Hmmmm. I've tried that but it didn't work. I've heard now that Flash for Vista is still in beta testing. I don't know. Thanks for the suggestion though.

What edition of Vista do you have?
I have Home Premium. I'm not sure that has anything to do with it but it might. I would go into Borders and read Vista for Dummies. (I did ))

Ok I tried uninstalling the Flash player and reinstalling it again and it does nada on YouTube. This is for every browser I have. Doesn't work in Firefox, IE... I even installed Safari and no dice.

My windows Vista works fine on youtube, you should call the maker of your laptop. It will probably feel like the end of the world sitting on the phone, but hopefully you will find a person who knows english, and can help!

It's a Sony, so I'll give them a call and see what happens. Maybe I'll give Adobe a call too.

EDIT: You're not going to believe this (or maybe you will). The problem was with my firewall! Once I set YouTube as a trusted site it worked fine. DUH! I feel so stupid now.

Glad that you got it working. Don't feel stupid, even the best of us who troubleshoot computers for a living sometime get brought to our knees by the simplest little things that we've overlooked.
