Longtime DL AP now considering moving to Knott's AP's with the recent DLR price increases. Wanted to get some expertise from the Knott's passholders or those in the know to confirm exactly how their passes work. Looks like if we bought passes now, they would only be good through the end of the year, correct? If we bought passes on 1/1/13, would the pass be good for a year? I couldn't find the info easily on the Knott's site.

Re: Knott's Season Pass Question
Yes the passes expire at the end of the year. They have in the past started selling the next years APs towards the end of the year and they were good for the remaining part of the current year plus the next one. Price wise the passes are cheapest early in the year, the prices tend to oincrease twice as the year progresses towards summer. They also offered this last year a 3 month payment plan to spread out the cost.

Re: Knott's Season Pass Question
And if you go to the MC Haunt Meet we always meet earlier than Haunt starts so using your parking and saving your $15 should be easy.
We recently upgraded our passes to the "Platinum" passes due to our trip next week and it's still an overwhelming bargain considering that we now get 7 or 8 different theme parks and all of the Soak City parks on our pass.

Re: Knott's Season Pass Question
Just released on Knotts website, they changed it a bit this year. Instead of getting Nov/Dec free with your purchase of next year's AP, you get one visit during the remainder of 2012 for free, and any additional for $9.99, still a good deal. The regular pass is $66.99 and you can even make 6 payments of $11.16 and spread out the cost. That offer is good until October 31st, and indicate that the price will go up after that date.

Its actually not a good deal.
Six Flags is offering their 2013 passes starting at $64.99 and you get the rest of 2012 free. Also they have a new major coaster coming out next year, Knotts does not, and has not had one going on 8 years now.
What Knotts is doing is just stupid, it actually discourages people from buying, knowing that if they purchase a 2012 pass at $74.00, it expires one 12-31-12. And if they purchase a 2013 pass they can only use it once, before being nickeled and dimed if they want to use it again in 2012.
Also Knotts Facebook has confirmed the price of the 2013 pass will not be going up until January, so no need to rush out and get something you can't use.

Re: Knott's Season Pass Question
like Clinks mentioned above, if you do any travelling the Cedar Faire Platinum pass is a great deal. its approx 160$ and is good for all Cedar Faire Parks, Gilroy Gardens in Gilroy, CA, free parking at all parks and gets you into Great America's (San Jose) Halloween Haunt for free. We've had our plat passes for a couple years now and really love them
EDIT: also, you get into all of the Soak Cities with the Plat passes

Re: Knott's Season Pass Question
I think the Season Pass deal is still good for somebody without a Knott's pass if they'd like to visit once before the end of the year, maybe to see the Xmas stuff in December.
It's hard to do a direct comparison between Knott's and Six Flags as far as season passes go.
If you REALLY sit down to think about it, how many people go to more than one Six Flags park a year? Not very many, at least not those from SFMM. The closest other Six Flags park is in Northern California and I'd venture most people don't even know about SFDK.
The only reason the Six Flags deal looks so good right now is the "buy 4 or more" and get the upgrade to the Gold Pass. Otherwise their Gold pass is actually more than the Knott's one.
My one disappointment in the Knott's Gold pass is that it doesn't include parking.
Personally, we will be waiting to get our passes for 2013 since we currently have passes. There is no rush. We will be getting or Six Flags passes before the end of the year though with the buy 4 deal.

Re: Knott's Season Pass Question
I don't mind Knott's doesn't include parking. Nine times out of ten, when I visit Knott's, I'm staying less than three hours, so I use the Marketplace lot.Does anyone even bother with signatures anymore?
