  • Knott's Centennial Approaching Sooner Than You May Think.....

With Knott's 100th Anniversary only about three years away, what would you like to see the park do to honor and pay tribute to the Knott's Legacy?

I'd like them to reopen a berry stand.

Replace some roller-coasters with more family friendly attractions and dark rides.

          Same here!

As long as theme parks want to be so I.P. centric ... Knott's had their own .. and original I.P. characters ... The Knott's Bear-Y Tales characters. If they res-erected them for the newer generation that never experienced the attraction ... that would be a plus for the 100th birthday. Whether as walk around characters with some sort of show. Maybe the ride - revived. The ride had a catchy song ...... there's potential here!

Plus .. unlike DL where they barely did a thing to celebrate Walt's 100th .............. I would like to see Knott's pay proper tribute to Walter Knott - in some sort of attraction, museum .. something.

And I also agree ... at the very least ... a Berry Stand. I don't know what happened to the original. But if they at least mimic it ... in full recreation ... that would be awesome.
          MY SIGNATURE:
Dear Peoplemover Fans, If you want to see a new attraction that at least mimics the 1967 Peoplemover in a future Tomorrowland remodel, you need to write to the powers-that-be, and let them know. If you don't - Then the next time Tomorrowland is remodeled, you will see a land barren of any "Peoplemover" type attraction.

My understanding , is that the berry stand was dismantled and put into storage

The farm owned by Knott dated back to 1920 but to say the amusement park is 100 years old is not correct. Cordelia started selling chicken dinners in the '30s and gradually Walter Knott began adding things to "amuse" the patrons waiting for tables. Not sure when the "only active volcano in California" was added, but it would be nice if Cedar Fair brought back some of the very simple things like that which were taken out for newer attractions. As a kid I remember waiting on Sundays for a table with our family and my brother and I watching the 'little devil' in the box turn the crank which made the volcano sound like it was erupting.

Things like these don't make money for Cedar Fair but the nostalgia factor is worth to me an effort to revive. I would love to see the berry stand brought back, the volcano with the devil and maybe the old arches from the "Camino Real' with the mission displays in a permanent locations all together.

During the 70s and 80s I recall seeing the original berry stand still in the confines of the theme park, just rotting away in the SoCal elements.
