  • KSF "Puppet Up! Uncensored"

Seriously? The CMS Theatre is a large venue to put on a lavish Halloween stage show with dancers & singers, and we get this crap, "Puppet Up! Uncensored?" Apparently, Knott's didn't take notes on last years yawn fest of a show. After seeing the highly popular, and very entertaining, Elvira show in 2017, we've been subjected to really bad entertainment in this theatre. This puppet show looks stupid, pointless and irritating. It has nothing to do with Halloween, and has no entertainment value.

Knott's gives us an amazing stage show during the Boysenberry Festival, and equally awesome show during the Summer with, "Beach Blanket Beagle". Why do they have to ruin it during the Halloween season?

Yes, I know there's more to KSF than just what's shown in the CMS Theatre, but being a huge fan of musical theatre, I expect better! Needless to say, I'll save money this year by not getting a KSF season pass. Infact, I have no desire to go this year at all. Sad, because Halloween season is my favorite time of the year!! So, is there anyone else who thinks this puppet show is a lame concept inside the CMS Theatre?

At least I have the Christmas season to look forward to with, "Snoopy on Ice" and the stage show, "It's The Merriest Christmas Show Ever, Charlie Brown!"

It's unfortunate that you will miss out on all the other great offerings this year at Scary Farm. Maybe Puppet Up and improv shows aren't your thing, which is totally fine. Calling it stupid, pointless, irritating and saying it has no entertainment value is a bit much without having seen it. I have heard good things about the show in the past and it has the Henson name attached to it so I am willing to give it a shot.

We were very lucky to have Elvira for as many years as we did. There will always be ebbs and flows when it comes to finding what is right for the entertainment element of events like this.

All in all, Knott's Scary Farm is still one of the best bang for your buck Halloween events in Southern California in my opinion. Hopefully you still manage to have a good time this season.

I appreciate and respect your feedback, thank you. However, I still hold true to my thoughts on, "Puppet Up! Uncensored". I, along with 2 other friends of mine, were watching the LIVE streaming of the KSF event held on 8/29. And at one point, they showed a preview of "Puppet Up", and it wasn't funny! We all agreed how stupid, pointless and irritating it was. So sitting through an entire show of that would be a waste of time. If you're going to have a show of this caliber, it should be in a smaller venue, where it's more intimate with the audience. I still believe the size of the CMS Theatre deserves to have a show of higher expectations with a lavish Halloween stage production. They certainly do it during the Summer and Christmas season, so I don't understand why they can't come up with something amazing and entertaining during the Haunt event?

I do enjoy the mazes and other elements of KSF, that's for sure. But just like with the Summer and Christmas seasons, my main reason to go is because of the stage and ice shows they do. The same is true when I go to Disneyland and Universal Studios, it's all about the entertainment they provide.

So sadly, this "Puppet Up" is not worthy enough to be shown in the CMS Theatre. And just like last year inside that theatre, Knott's went cheap again.

But hey, this is just my humble opinion.

I was at the event, so I saw the preview as well. The bottom line is that if you aren’t a fan of improvisational shows, this won’t be for you.

The neat thing about this show in my opinion is the fact that you are seeing beyond what the camera sees. It’s unique in that you get to see how the performers of this type of show work. Having the Henson name attached adds some weight to it as well. I still am going to disagree about it being "stupid, pointless and irritating" because I haven't seen it yet.

The Puppet Up part is at 26:25 and goes on for about ten minutes (video should be cued to the start). A puppeteer on stage introduces it, followed by a video from Brian Henson (Jim's son, I assume), then puppeteers improv live on-stage.

Comedy, Improv, scary farm. I LOVE IT! Last time I saw the elvira show and was pretty bored with it. Happy to have this one.

I'm with DFG on this one; it looks pretty bad. I'll probably skip it unless I've done everything else a couple times.

HaHaHa...thanks! But even if I've done everything a couple times, I still won't see it. I have absolutely no interest in supporting this lame show!

LOL...and how sad is that? And if it's anything like last years show, people will be walking out of it...like I did. BORING!

Hey, it could be "So bad, it's good!" A lot of people used to say that about Elvira.

Son of Jim Henson helped make that new R-rated muppet (sorry puppet) movie with a great cast including Melissa McCarthy, so that's a bad sign. I was like DisneyFunGuy in the first post on this tread--I hated that movie so much I never even saw it.

Actually I saw the reviews for it. It Micechatters love this new Knott's show I'll see it.

Speaking of big Knott's shows, thank you Knott's for having multiple shows!
Universal's Hollywood Horror Nights just has one (dance) show that is impressive, but not Halloweeny enough. WEAK.

And while I'm blabbing away, remember how excellent Ed Alonzo was his first year, then how he phoned it in with a really weak show in his next and (thankfully) last show at Scary Farm the next year. That was weird.

Maybe Knott's should make The Hanging an even bigger budget show and have it in the big theater!

C & D list celebrities might even volunteer to be killed on different nights! They've been showing up to accept Razzie awards for years.
Maybe even actual minor & former politicians & athletes would volunteer.

                          Knott's really should hire me.

Put me in the camp of "NOPE!". Seems like a tremendous waste of space to have this in the CMS theatre, and a slap in the face to the theatre at that.

To me, this would be more appropriate at the smaller Calico stage...even then I still wouldn't watch it.

and if this show is the greatest thing in the history of entertainment, kid those who were certain it would stink.

HaHaHa!! Maybe you'll be right, but I highly doubt it. At least with the Elvira show it had a Halloween feel to it. But then again, I'm a huge fan of hers! She made KSF the mere reason I went all the time!

I'll be going to KSF this year, but just won't be buying their season pass. And speaking of Ed Alonzo, he was just as boring to me! He would be fine in a smaller theatre, but again, when it comes to the CMS Theatre, there needs to be a full stage production. Much like when they have "Beach Blanket Beagle", or any of their ice shows. That theatre is not meant for some lame puppet show. (rolling my eyes)

I am in the "no" camp as well after seeing it at the preview event. I am looking forward to the magicians at Bird Cage though. Last year that was so fun!
