  • Magic Mountain traffic update for 10/14-10/20

If you are going to Magic Mountain on the weekend during this week, the Magic Mountain/Old Road intersection will be closed.

If coming northbound on the 5, you must get off at Valencia and travel northbound on The Old Road to Magic Mountain. If coming southbound, you must exit at Rye Canyon and then proceed southbound on The Old Road.

If you do get off at Magic Mountain, you will be detoured about 3 miles to go around the closed intersection.

All traffic exiting the park will exit in one lane only and have to proceed southbound only on The Old Road. There will be no turns allowed to go northbound.

The restaurants at the Magic Mountain exit will not be accessible from the park To get to them you will have to proceed down The Old Road, make a u-turn, and return.

When the intersection reopens, Magic Mountain Parkway will be one lane in each direction for approximately 2 months.
"And yes, we implore EVERYBODY to follow the park rules. Having off-ride footage is great, but any still photo's or video's taken ON the coasters at SFMM are strictly against the rules. They are there for your (and everybody's) safety." "Six Flags doesn't allow ANY loose articles on their coasters, and they don't allow video taping on their coasters. " BUT, " This is not true. Six Flags does not allow ANY On-Ride video or pictures on the rides. The ONLY way is if you get explicit permission from Park Management." ???

Well, I'm glad they are finally doing SOMETHING with this intersection. It's been one of the worst intersections forever.

Yes, this intersection has always been horrible, especially now.

This link http://www.santa-clarita.com/news/en...provements.pdf gives an aerial view of the improvements for this intersection.

The curved yellow area at the top is the new road and the straight part below it is the current road. The old portion of the road is going to be turned in to more restaurant and parking spaces.

They started this project on schedule on 10/14, but there is no way it will be done today. Look for this detour to go at least another week. Traffic was backed up about 1 mile near opening time this past weekend.
