Go ahead and spread your wings! Take flight on this unique coaster that will leave riders breathless as they swoop through the air, literally away from the track.

There are actually three of these being built in the US next year.

This one at Dollywood, X Flight at Six Flags Great America and Skyrush at Hershey Park (although that one is being built by Intamin).

Wow! Can't wait to see all three. You're on top of the coaster world, Clinks. Thanks!

Guess that Dollywood figures it will have it's wing coaster up and running first....but that apparently will be short lived.

While Skyrush will utilize "winged" seats, the seats are all above the track with only the outer two being floorless.

3 Wing-Riders are being built on the planet, two in the US (X-Flight and Dollywood).

A winged-coaster is being built at Hershey Park, SkyRush. However its seating is much more like a traditional coaster than the wing-riders are.

So, Lazyboy and Ice are saying that only two out of the previously mentioned coasters are true wing coasters with all riders situated to the right and left of the track, creating the sensation of free flight.

Sure would be great if there was some rockin' music in the Dollywood's Wild Eagle queue. I'm ready for a new sensation! INXS - New Sensation HD - YouTube

The problem is different companies use different terms. There are four B&M Wing coasters, which includes Wild Eagle. X2 (S&S 4D Coaster) and Green Lantern: First Flight (Intamin ZacSpin) at Six Flags Magic Mountain also feature seats on the side of the track, but they also rotate, which does not happen on the B&M Wing coasters.

Interesting info to contemplate.... These are each wing coasters as defined by their seats being located away from the track, off to the side(s). Green Lantern is way cool!
