  • News Renaissance Pleasure Faire 2014 Dates announced

Hah! Go ahead and post your Christmas musings two months ahead of time.

I have next spring in mind already!

Renaissance Pleasure Faire (that one at the Dam in Irwindale) has just announced dates for 2014 - Saturdays and Sundays, April 5-May 18.

Come on out if you're of that mind - I'll be most likely on Rogue's Reef at least three times a day.

Thanks, Boglurch! ! ! Rogue's Reef is fun in a South Park/Dogberry way.

We really like the Ren Faire in Irwindale, and so we've visited it 7 times over the last three summers!

And as much as we like it, we LOVED Bristol Renaissance Faire in Wisconsin (which we visited in this summer of 2013) even more. It's often listed as one of the top three along with the huge one in Texas and one in Minnesota.

At the Bristol Faire instead of Irwindale's dust (on hot days) and tents, it was held in a large, beautiful tudor village with grassy little hills and many big shady trees. FYI: there is a Ren Faire magazine online that ranks the best Ren Faire performers from around the country. Moonie is always on a couple lists, but it was great to seem some top-rated acts in Wisconsin that don't make out to our California faire.

Still, the Faire in Irwindale is also great! (Techskip, back me up on this! ))

If any of you like the "Tangled" and the "Beauty and the Beast" shows on the stage at Disneyland's Fantasy Faire that opened in March of 2013, I'd guess that you'll also like the Ren Faire.

At both locations I've been to, the fairs had the same positive "Let's put on a show" vibe I get at Knott's Scary Farm. I've also been using the Faires as the earliest stage of my 12+ year plan to turn my kid into a Shakespeare fan. Today the Ren Faires, in five years the Oregon & Stratford (Canada) Shakespeare festivals.

I like that company! I wish all of the best acts came to Irwindale and that they'd build a village there or find a new location in or near L.A. County where they could get some English infrastructure.

Hey BobLurch, is there anything more enjoyable then watching a good act at Rogue's Reef while drinking an overpriced beer? It restores my faith in humanity.

Last year they gave us an ale stand of our own. Not just an ale stand, but the craft beer ale stand. One of the weekends the feature beer was brewed by one of the Puritans who'd just gone commercial with their own line recently. I can't complain.
