Re: Back To The Future closed at USO !

I went on Star Tours (when it first opened) and thought:
    "Wow! This is cool."

I went on Back-to-the-future (when it first opened) and thought:
"Wow! This is cool but it sure makes Star tours look dated"

I went on California soaring and thought:
"Wow! This is cool but it sure makes back-to-the future look dated"

I can't wait to see what they come up with next.

I don't think it will happen in todays climate at Universal but I really wish they'd build a huge dark ride that would be an E-ticket equivalent at this spot instead of another simulator ride. My wife can't ride the thrill type rides and I hate having to ride things without her. I'd love to see something new along the lines of what King Kong was. I know it won't happen and that's just me being wishful in my thinking but that would be my ideal replacement here.

I do admit I enjoyed the ride when I was younger, and the park in general. I'm not so sad to see it go though, oddly enough. I think it had a good run, but it does kind of stink that they're not refurb-ing it or anything to keep it looking shiny and new. Oh well, it's for the best I suppose!

weren't they going to use the film at one of the paramount parks? then decided aqgainst it prior to giving them to CBS then selling them to cedar fair...

if i remember it was only the move... hilton pays a nice chunk of cash for the rights to klingon attack and borg 4d....

oh.. screamscape reports 10/15 closing now for BTTF

I think the big advantage the two rides at Star Trek in the Vegas Hilton have over some of these others is that they are "themed" well. Especially with Klingon Encounter.
Well tell Universal to get on it and bring this attraction into USO then. Anything but The Simpsons or Fast and the Furious.

Alfred Hitchock Presents = Shrek 4D (I really miss the old one since I am a big Hitchcock fan)

The old Psycho House tore down in favor of a bigger children's play area
I miss those too. I remember staring at the Psycho house at dusk back in like 1993 or 1994 and the eerie music playing in that area gave me a serious case of the heebie jeebies.

From the moment you are "beamed" aboard the Enterprise, through being taken up to the bridge and finally the simulator itself, it is entirely possible that you have actually been taken into that world. Even the ending (which I won't spoil here for people that haven't been on it) plays into that faux reality, making it a perfect ride experience in my book.

For me, I never completely "bought into" the BTTF ride. Maybe it's just me...

ok, nick's contract on characters is for how many more years? 6 or 4?

then again, who knows how this will work out... cedar fair may not aquire a exclusive contract in a few years.. or drop them.

Athough I rode this last year in California, I'm not that cluey on the history of the ride: which version is closing down? This is Orlando version we are talking about?

If it is the same as the Hollywood one, then I was fairly disappointed in the ride. As a motion simulator, it is too rough and not entirely covincing as a world within itself. It almost seemed to be an excuse to show a bunch of unrelated scenes, and wasn't in keeping with the themes and values of the movie all that well. I am a HUGE BTTF fan, and simply 'riding' in a Delorean was a huge buzz for me, but I have to say that it was a step-down from other simulators I'd been on, especially compared with Star Tours or Klingon Encounter (Las Vegas Hilton).

I'll be disapointed with the simpsons or Fast and the Furious, especially FATF, only with the Simpsons because I'm really hoping they'll replace Jimmy Neutron soon.
Sadly, I don't think Jimmy Neutron won't be going anywhere soon. It opened not long ago and still can get quite a line. It seems like more and more it will be a Fast and the Furious ride which I will be really dissapointed with.

thanks for the replies . I'll miss a little bit BTF because i waited almost an hour a few years ago to ride on it .

The ride was still very smooth at that time .

One side is still running, and seemed to be fairly busy according to the ride time board up front. I never went past that part of the park yesterday because I ran out of time, but it seemed to be drawing in the crowds as well as everything else was.

So sad. I paid my last respects about a week and a half ago and did a couple of farewell rides. I think it's sad that unlike Disney (With POTC, HM and many others), Universal doesn't perserve any of it's rides and just keep tearing down their old ones in favor of newer rides.

Alfred Hitchock Presents = Shrek 4D (I really miss the old one since I am a big Hitchcock fan)

    Hanna Barbara = Jimmy Neutron

    King Kong = The Mummy

    Ghostbusters = Twister

Old Wild West Stunt Show = Fear Factor

The old Psycho House tore down in favor of a bigger children's play area

    and now BTTF = ?

On a side note I would love to get my hands on some of the old props from inside the ride like a Flux Capcitor, Hoverboard, or some other little trinket.
