  • Mystery odge @ Knott's

    Hey,

I'm in the middle of reading "Walt's Revolution, by the numbers". Buzz talks about a show at Knott's Berry Farm called Mystery Lodge. Is that show still around?

    Thanks,
    Tonny

As far as I know it's still there, and I'd recommend checking it out. Very cool show if Native American culture interests you.

I still wonder why Disney hasn't done something to the effect of Mystery Lodge. It's such a cool show!

Mystery Lodge is my favorite thing at Knott's (I'm not a big fried chicken fan!). It's an amazing show. I haven't seen it in years, but the last time I was there it seemed a little neglected to me. Made me sad.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the effects are basically the same as what is used in the HM Ballroom scene. Really amazing. I, too, am surprised that Disney hasn't come up with something similar.

I saw it once ... that was enough IMO.

What should I expect from this show? Something really big that is done only a couple of times per day, or something shorter that runs all the time much like a 3D show?

It has a showing about once an hour, on a posted schedule... Just pick up the schedule when you enter the park.

Mystery Lodge is an attraction that is more for educational purposes. If you're looking for excitement or fun, that is the wrong attraction to check out. The technology used in Mystery Lodge to my knowledge was not something ever used by Disney when it first opened. As a matter of fact when it did open up, the Disney big wigs wanted to go see it so and they did. Now this is just a rumor but it was something floating around Disneyland but Michael Eisner went to check it out and turned to someone and said something to the affect of how the Knott's people did that and that he didn't get it.

Mystery Lodge used to be maintained by one person that works in Maintenance/Entertainment. When I was there, the technology was only privy to a select few but things might have finally changed under Cedar Fair rule.

The new Lincoln Museum in Springfield, illinois, which opened last month (April 19th) uses the same technology in one of it's exhibits.

The new "experience museum" is amazing in itself, offers many diffferent types of exhibits, one of the ones at the end is called "Ghosts of the Library" is the exhibit that is based on the same technology as "Mystery Lodge".

And I think that Mystery Lodge is a lot more fun than Golden Dreams....

What exactly is that technology anyway?

I just assumed that it was similar to the Ballroom in HM. I'm looking forward to checking out the site and getting some answers!

The main effect in Mystery Lodge is "Pepper's Ghost", the same effect used in the HM Ballroom scene. Mystery Lodge combines it with some very good mechanical and additional projection techniques.

I wasn't too impressed the very first time I saw it; I just didn't get the point. But every time I saw it I liked it more and more. To me it is as important a show as "Lincoln" is on Main Street.

When you go to Knott's do not miss this show.

Contact Knotts and let them know what you think! Please! I feel the same as all of you do! I love Mystery Lodge. They can do more attractions with that same technology.
