  • No More "Nightmares" in Philadelphia

Lynton V. Harris' "Nightmares X-treme Scream Park" is out of the Wachovia (nee First Union, nee CoreStates) Spectrum after four years full of October bookings according to the Philadelphia Daily News. The reason, according to those at Comcast-Spectacor, is that the Spectrum, celebrating its' 40th Anniversary this September, is needed for minor-league hockey games and the aforementioned month-down lockdown of dates.

That seems a bit odd. Why do they suddenly need it for minor league hockey games this year and not previous years?

The Phantoms (apt name for the Flyers' farm team in the American Hockey League) played two or three games across the parking lot at the Wachovia formerly FU (or the Stone Cold Steve Austin) formerly CoreStates Center and were on the road for most of October as the Flyers are playing there.

Here's a brief history of the attraction, from Mr. Harris' Sudden Impact! Entertainment website: The attraction started out in New York City as "Madison SCARE Garden" in an exhibition area of The World's Most Famous Arena, then became "The Fright House" when it went to Washington, DC at the DC Armory (that building next to RFK Stadium) before coming to Philadelphia. No word on where Mr. Harris will be setting up shop this year.
