I am in Denmark for work for two weeks and had the weekend free in Copenhagen. Spent Sunday at Tivoli as is was the last day of their Halloween celebration. This is the second year that they have been open for Halloween as I do not think Halloween is really celebrated in Denmark but there are a few decorations available at stores.

Waiting for the park to open there were maybe 100 people, you cannot purchase tickets prior to the park opening so once the gates opened at 11:00am it was another 10-15 minutes to get tickets and enter.

It looks like they begin testing the rides when the park opens as the rides were not open until 11:30. Admission was 79 kroner to enter the park with a seperate charge of 200 kroner for an all-day ride pass (5 kroner = 1 USD). This is actual pretty reasonable as there is a 25% tax included in the rate.

There are many unusual midway games at the park. Shooting plates, bow and arrow (with real bow and arrows), egg toss into chicken nest, as well as many of the standard games.

Somethings that you will not find in a Disney park include slot machines in 3 different 'jackpot' rooms, pipes and cigarettes

Of course everything looks amazing as even when buildings from outside the park are visible they are incredible.

There are 2 dark rides, one is a tour of HC Andersens stories which luckily was narrated in English, the ride system is like a heavy duty omnimover with the vehicle being a flying trunk from one of the stories, there is one scene from each story and the narration give a super quick description of the story before you move to the next one. I did not see any signs regarding using flash photography so I went ahead and took advantage.

I
am
going
The other dark ride is new and is a log ride called Miner. This ride has some great detail of trolls taking care of (freeing?) a dragon, no narration or story that I saw but maybe everyone in Denmark knows the story.

I am heading back tonight to see what kind of nightime pictures I can get. Lots more pictures at http://www.flickr.com/photos/smallbeck/
