I highly doubt Disney could open anytime soon considering comic con, a LATE summer event, has been canceled.

I read a notification that the decision had been made because of a number of reasons; aside from it simply being the safe thing to do at this point in time with so many other cons canceled, they also know how many people have to save and plan in advance (guests, exhibitors, etc.) so canceling this far out is a courtesy action for folks like that. Finally, consider that major studios that normally present announcements during Comic Con or host elaborate exhibits will probably have nothing to show at this time because they're effectively cut off from working on current/upcoming projects and the decision certainly starts to make more and more sense.
Does it look bad for Disney? Maybe. But this is still a fluid situation which still has the power to go either direction. For example, a new drug being tested is showing very positive early results (https://www.statnews.com/2020/04/16/...Afb8E2PvJOmGGY) and while it's too early to exclaim that "we're saved!", it still goes to show that things could change quickly if something along these lines were to be fast tracked out and considered safe by the FDA, which would in turn cut down on cases and increase confidence in the general public.
The only reality in all of this is that we just don't know and we have to get comfortable living with that notion despite it going against our very human nature. Disneyland will re-open but no body knows when. Hopefully with our economy and lives at stake, our best and brightest are pouring everything they have into combating this thing. Everyone else just needs to be patient and help out in whatever way they can, which in this time, can mean doing less instead of more.
I say all of the above as a former Comic Con 2020 Professional Badge holder.

As someone who was in the midst of planning an event when coronavirus became a pandemic, it is incredibly hard to do without a date of certainty. In the case of an annual event, it makes sense to cancel something outright rather than to postpone it and then have it at a regular time only a few months later.
The San Diego Convention Center might be a fixed property, but Comic Con can't make commitments to all the vendors they need to pull the thing off without the certainty of a date. I'm sure Disney's contracts with its vendors have force majeure language that allows them to postpone deliveries/services, but also resume them as much as they can on shorter notice.
Needless to say, I think Disney will fare better.

"And yes, we implore EVERYBODY to follow the park rules. Having off-ride footage is great, but any still photo's or video's taken ON the coasters at SFMM are strictly against the rules. They are there for your (and everybody's) safety." "Six Flags doesn't allow ANY loose articles on their coasters, and they don't allow video taping on their coasters. " BUT, " This is not true. Six Flags does not allow ANY On-Ride video or pictures on the rides. The ONLY way is if you get explicit permission from Park Management." ???
