    Dolphin Bubbles

    YouTube - SeaWorld Dolphin Bubbles

The dolphins at Sea World Florida's Dolphin Cove are teaching eachother a curious activity. They are learning to blow bubbles. More specifically, they are emitting bubble rings from their blow holes, and pushing, spinning and manipulating the rings to make them bigger smaller or bigger. They even know how to keep the bubble rings from floating to the surface. Check out Sea World's Dolphin Bubbles site, and the You Tube link above.

Guests and animal experts alike are having the time of their lives observing these intelligent, warm creatures of the sea through an underwater viewing area.

That is absolutely remarkable! Once the dolphins learn the positive response they are getting from their trainers, I'm betting more of them will start doing it, too.
Amnesia used to be my favourite word, but I forgot it.

I do believe you are right on the money, Exprmnt. They crave affection and recognition ..just like us.

There is so much to learn from these fascinating social aquatic beings. It's also wuite wonderful if not downright comforting to know that dolphins can rationalize and figure out how to accomplish complex activities on their own. There will likely always be new things to find out about them.

          heehee.

Sorry......it is really cool that the dolphins have learned this. It shows not only their intelligence...but, how gentle they are..in being able to manipulate the bubbles like that. Great find, RW!

Thanx, Stitchy. We both have an abiding respect for the incredible gift that dolphin's are to this planet. They are fast, agile, smart, loving ..and always full of surprises.

                  bubbles in the water...

someone told me... that dolphins have signs to show how they feel and to say thing without speaking. a bubble ring translates to:

                  HELP!

                  ...could that be wrong?

Could be. Perhaps the dolphins want us to help them take a bubble bath.

Maybe they are entertaining themselves, because captivity is so boring.

It would be interesting to watch dolphins use their rings to sing the Beatles song, HELP!
