  • News Sea World to launch new Shamu show in all US parks next year

After just 4 years of performances, the Shamu show "Believe" will be replaced next year for safety and story reasons.

Sea World's President, Jim Atchison (in an Orlando Sentinel interview), has revealed that Shamu will be getting a new show next year. The show has not been the same since a trainer was killed during a performance of Believe (the Shamu show) in February of this year. Trainers were always a part of that show, but since the accident, trainers have been kept at a safe distance from the Orcas, which has deeply impacted the show which featured many stunts involving trainers in the water.

The new Shamu show does not yet have a name.

Definitely over due, hopefully they can make it entertaining and highlight the animals and not make it as awkward as it has been since the tragedy. Its a shame what happened but believe was made for trainers and the whales to interact , they simply cant do it anymore, I just hope it doesnt turn into blue horizons.

Should be interesting to see what the do. We make our annual trip to Sea World every November, with this year's trip next week. I took a lot of video of Believe last year, so I guess I should get some more shots and video this year, since it looks like we won't see the same trainer and Shamu interaction in the future.

They haven't been performing believe since the new baby was born. I will head over again this weekend to see what the current show status is.

I wish Sea World would give it up. The Shamu shows are BORING BORING BORING.. Let the Orcas be free and make Clide and Seamore the park's true stars. And speaking of corn.. let's go see Blue Horizons!!!

I was at Sea World San Diego yesterday. We saw Believe and it was a far cry from the show we saw a year ago. All of the trainer interaction with Shamu in the water had been eliminated from the show. Last year I shot a lot of video of that performance, now I'm really glad I did. The show looses so much without the trainers performing with Shamu.

Yesterday was my first chance to see Blue Horizons. While the show may be a great show for Vegas, or a circus, I did not like it as a Sea World Show. I want to see dolphins doing tricks when I go to a dolphin show, not people in costumes swinging on ropes.
