  • [Question] Penguin Encounter?

    Hi all,

I have a quick question - I'm thinking about doing the penguin encounter for my husband and I in a couple weeks. I am obsessed with documenting everything with photos, so I'm curious as to whether they allow you to take photos during this experience?

    Thanks in advance!

    Kelly

    Hi!

You're allowed to take as many pictures as you want. It was an awesome experience, and I got TONS of great pictures when they let us go in the penguin exhibit! Have fun!

No need to shoot color, you can get better pictures with black and white

The new Star Wars plot summery:

Episode 7: Luke discovers that Darth Vader is not his father, and goes on a search for his real father

Episode 8: Darth Vader is resurrected and goes on Jerry Springer, claiming he is Luke and Leia's father

Episode 9: Princes Leia is not Luke's sister, making him furious (we all know why...).

Awesome!! I cherish my picture so much, I actually hesitate to attend events that don't allow photos... Is that weird? Hahaha Thank you very much for the info!

              Re: Penguin Encounter?

Sooo a quick update. I came down with a case of the pregnancies, and good ol' nausea and exhaustion hit me full force during the trip. The Saturday that we were going to spend in Sea World ended up being spent in the hotel with ventures out for food only. It was kind of a bummer, but we'll be sure to go back at another time, and hopefully have a kiddo tagging along with us! Thank you all again for your help and info, I really appreciate it!

                Re: Penguin Encounter?

Well here's a video I shot of Penguin Plaza at SeaWorld Orlando and it does have a walk through of the Penguin Encounter with both tanks. I'm not shure if our buildings were the same as SeaWorld San Diego's are but I do believe they do have two tanks as well. I shot this video a few months before this area was closed to be transformed into Antartica: Empire of the Penguin.
                Current coaster count: 179
100th coaster: Phantom's Revenge at Kennywood
                150th coaster: Intimidator at Carowinds
last new park addition: Six Flags Great America

Maybe you'll capture like the video of this penguin who came out of the enclosure:
Penguin jumps out of exhibit at SeaWorld - CNN.com Video
This makes it seem like Sea World didn't put enough thought into how this attraction would be for penguins who will have to live there, but hopefully it's an easy fix.

I"m not sure it is so much that SeaWorld didn't think it through as it is that SeaWorld didn't give themselves or the penguins enough time in the new exhibit getting them used to where they should and shouldn't go. I like the new exhibit a lot and love that you can get so close to them, however, the penguins are not yet really used to the areas where they should be staying and probably shouldn't go.

Of course, a lot of that will be worked out over time too as visitors are coming and going and SW sees what works and what doesn't.
