  • Submarine Quest - Dumbest Ride Ever???

I have a soft spot in my heart for Sea World. I love Shamu. I have very fond memories of Sea World visits back in the 20th century. I want Sea World to succeed.

    But then this happens...

Wow, that was painful to watch.

    Loving Disney Since 2006!

I haven't been on it, but from the videos, it does indeed look rather disappointing. That said, I'll take a poor dark ride over none at all.
Does anyone even bother with signatures anymore?

There are probably worse rides in those awful parks in China or India but this is pretty much scraping the bottom of the barrel as far as attractions in a major US theme park. Especially considering how much they probably spent on it and how high the expectations were.

As was the case with the disappointing Antarctica ride in Orlando the ride vehicles here are more impressive than the actual guest experience. Never mind Disney or UNI, this doesn't even compare with what they're doing at SFMM, Knotts or Legoland.

Is there some augmented reality component I'm missing? This seems like the two concepts would be more effective is this was just a Peoplemover esque elevated tram ride that had the interactive component on computer consoles at the exit (for some reason my brain is going with mid 90's visits to Portland's Omsi and playing Magic Schoolbus at their computer lab).

I think this barebones concept might've worked if they'd inverted it? Build a flume ride with the lousy interactive segments being highlighted by landscaping? Have the queue elevated above the ride. I dunno this is just sad. Seems like Seaworld needs an artist of sorts to consult on this stuff.

They seem unable to correct from their bad design choices. I'm left wondering what their budget is and who sets the priorities for that budget?

Does this even count as a dark ride?

Fair point, but how else would you categorize it?

I'd characterize this ride as more of a kiddie peoplemover than a dark ride.

Yeah....really don't see why it would have been sooooooo hard to make a ride where you get into a sub and go under Aquariums for like 5 mins

The ride is literally PM but with no point
                  Happy Halloween!!!

Thinking maybe something like living seas at Epcot?

I guess there isn't a real way to critique this. There are innumerable better ways to do an elevated tour ride or a submarine ride or a ride with an interactive element...

Space is a real premium issue for San Diego. I don't understand how they justify wasting resources in this... I'm still sour on the lesser Atlantis ride. San Diego needs to raise it's quality bar and it needs these offerings to be actually repeatable. They need some kind of vision that they seem to lack.

We may have the lesser Atlantis ride, but at least not the worst one. Texas makes ours look like Pandora.
