  • SFMM's 2009 Coaster!

According to Six Flags and screamscape, Six Flags Magic Mountain will be home to a new GCI woodie next year, due to the sucess of the Evil Kniveil SFSL. Six Flags wants to build a meaner version here in California. Does anyone know more information?

According to roller coaster data base, it will be a steel coaster...

...but according to a poster on Theme Park Review says:

"While giving his keynote speech at the ACE banquet, Mark Shapiro let it slip that Magic Mountain would be getting a new wooden GCI coaster next year. He said it would be themed to the movie 'Terminator Salvation'."

They've tried boring (Colossus) and painful (Psyclone); third time's the charm?

You must have never ridden Colossus back in the day. That ride used to be absolutely INSANE. Tons of airtime, fast, and best of all it raced.

Psyclone was a good ride when it first opened too.

All it took to ruin them both was a little Magic Mountain magic, and they were turned into shadows of their former selves.

Yeah, 1st time was '91, and I did actually like Psyclone then. Couldn't believe the difference 10+ years later.

There's new rumors going around that the ride will somehow be themed to the new Terminator movie. Any guesses how that will work?

                      Re: SFMM's 2009 Coaster!

I love Colossus, especially backwards..Psyclone however I hated with a passion. It will be interesting to see how they theme it towards Terminator though. Maybe the trains will have the T-800 heads on the front.

Should be cool, but SFMM hasn't had a good history of maintaining their woodies. So im thinking of it as a bad investment at the moment.

SoCal parks as a whole don't have good records in maintaining their woodies. I mean, Ghostrider at Knott's was probably my favorite coaster EVER when it first opened. Now, I can't even ride it it's so rough.

2 GCI's opening in the same state at around the same time, this gonna be a sick year in Cali.

From what i've heard the new coaster at SFMM is going to be a new prototype, a woodie/steel hybrid. That's just what i've been hearing.

                            ...I thought Terminator was Universal.

As a person who loves the biggest thrills, i still like Colosus its fun. Though it doesnt look well maintain i hope that the new woodie is awsome!
Terminator is futuristic and woodies dont really fit that so i wonder how thats gunna work out.
Yea and isnt Terminator a Universal thing?
