  • Six Flags Magic Mountain's New Park Map!

    Hey everyone,

I came across this new park map for Magic Mountain this morning, and thought I'd share it with all of you who haven't seen it also.

    http://www.sixflags.com/magicMountain/info/parkMap.aspx

    So...

Let's chat about the new maps. If you'd like, give some pros and cons. For me, the pro is that the rides look somewhat defined and organized, with pretty accurate layouts, whereas the old maps had coaster tracks like clumps of spaghetti (X2 and Tatsu). One of my cons would be that it looks like there is so much empty space in the park. Lots of plain areas. I think that they should follow Disney's maps in placing lots of trees in their open areas.

Shat do you think about the new maps?

I think they look pretty good. Like you said, the layouts look rather accurate for a park map, which is kind of cool.

I LOVE that they put the parking lot under Scream, Goliath and Colossus. It's almost like "Yeah, we admit it looks like crap, let's not try and put trees and stuff there anymore".

The sad thing is, it would be SO easy for them to put some grass and trees (under Scream at least).

Just for comparison purposes, here is the old map...

It is pretty much the same as the map we just had, but it still has psyclone and flashback.

I noticed the Metro's track was gone... Does this mean it won't be coming back after all...?

It looks OK. Too bad they define the large hill you have to walk up to get to Sky Tower, Ninga, SUperman, etc.
"And yes, we implore EVERYBODY to follow the park rules. Having off-ride footage is great, but any still photo's or video's taken ON the coasters at SFMM are strictly against the rules. They are there for your (and everybody's) safety." "Six Flags doesn't allow ANY loose articles on their coasters, and they don't allow video taping on their coasters. " BUT, " This is not true. Six Flags does not allow ANY On-Ride video or pictures on the rides. The ONLY way is if you get explicit permission from Park Management." ???

No, it won't be. It's in bad shape, and the company that made it is no longer in business.
Does anyone even bother with signatures anymore?

The old map was MUCH more "Cartoonish" to me.

                  Oh...

I heard somewhere about a year ago that the Metro could possible come back... can't remember where I heard it however.

But it truly looks like it won't be after all.

Nope. SFMM management has confirmed this. I know, I'm bummed to. They also admit that is extremely expensive to just tear it down... so that track's going to be up there for a while, I'm guessing.

I like this new map and the track layouts are fairly accurate for the most part.

As they are still distributing 08 maps at the park, I expect 09 ones to appear in a month or two, perhaps?
