Too soon to say. Give it a year or two and I'm sure we'll have an idea.

^ Was actually just about to do that.

In other news, a replacement has been named.

Rabjohn is the new park president of Six Flags Magic Mountain and Hurricane Harbor

Someone should probably change the thread title.

This is very sad news indeed. I wish Jay the best and hope that his successor will finish what he has started at SFMM.

I'm sad to see Jay leave SFMM. But he's a perfect guy to have on top.

Leave it up to the media to jump the gun and make assumptions.....

I'm glad that he wasn't fired. It wouldn't have made any sense.

Jay Thomas exits Magic Mountain for corporate gig in Texas

Jay Thomas is leaving Six Flags Magic Mountain and Hurricane Harbor as park president for a position at the theme park company's corporate office in Dallas, an official said Tuesday.

A Six Flags Magic Mountain spokeswoman denied that Thomas had been fired from the company, which was part of initial reports.

"Jay never had the kind of airs that corporate people do -- he is a genuine, good human being," said John Mahaffy, former interim director of the SCV Boys & Girls Club Foundation.

That's a really strange development. It seems that all the people that helped pull Six Flags out of bankruptcy and get it back to a healthy position are being replaced. I guess it's hard to see what this means until we get more information about the chain's future plans.

Great, let's fire the people who help turn a park around. That's wise management.

He was a great leader for the park, and I hope he finds employment elsewhere.

That is very sad news about Jay and I hope he gets picked up quickly but someone who appreciates his ability to work miracles with very little budget.

Not sure what this means for the park, good or bad. Jay was great and I had the pleasure to meet him quite a few times. He was always very personable and you would ALWAYS see him (and other SFMM managers) walking the park with their trash picker-uppers.

I guess it depends on who the replacement is, but hopefully it will be somebody from within the park so they can continue their up-swing.
Working...
