  • Hurricane Harbor Ruined with Flashpass...

I went to hurricane harbor last week and got into the park by 30 mins of it opening....and let me tell you the new line system to me in one word...sucks

I get in there and were stopped at every ride now having to let those who pay to pass you get to just walk onto to almost every ride

Really all it does it make the lines longer at the parks for the normal guests to the point were I can say I'm done with this park....we left by 2 PM and I will be going one more time because my friends have passes too and want to go...but I can say I really think the park is worst then ever. No new slides in like 7 years....and no more lines unless I'm willing to pay 10 more dollars? No thank you
    Happy Halloween!!!

Jerrod, you are 100% correct. I was there last Friday at opening and left by 12pm. We left after 90 minutes because we got on everything and the lines were starting to get long and you could already see the confusion beginning with the lines. The lines make no sense. The employees in the red shirts who monitor the line are rude and obviously don't want to be there.

For the most part, most of the lines are shaded when you are waiting on the stairs to get to the top. Now, they make you stand in a queue line at the bottom in the blazing sun, waiting for Flashpass and tube rental people go by first. Ridiculous. The annual passes were free this year, but after one more visit, I will not be back either.

I did write a letter to Six Flags about this. I am still waiting for a response from them.

Flashpass was not needed here. Everything worked just fine without it. It was clearly obvious we were not the only ones complaining about it. Hopefully HH picks up on this and quietly removes this system.
"And yes, we implore EVERYBODY to follow the park rules. Having off-ride footage is great, but any still photo's or video's taken ON the coasters at SFMM are strictly against the rules. They are there for your (and everybody's) safety." "Six Flags doesn't allow ANY loose articles on their coasters, and they don't allow video taping on their coasters. " BUT, " This is not true. Six Flags does not allow ANY On-Ride video or pictures on the rides. The ONLY way is if you get explicit permission from Park Management." ???

Wow, I've had the exact opposite experience.

We've been to SFHH 6 times already this year, we've used FP one of the visits (and let me say, it's awesome).

I don't really mind it at all. There really aren't that many people using it. Waiting at the bottom of the stairs is pretty much exactly the same wait as the previous wait times of waiting at the top. The lines at the top are shorter than they have been in the past. You really aren't waiting THAT much longer because as I said, not that many people are using Flash Pass.

Plus, at $10 for the regular and $15 for the Gold, it's not like it's that expensive.

Also, if you rent a tube (only $5 for season passholders) you get to use the Flash Pass line for Tiki Falls, Lightning Falls and the Black Snake tubes.

Agree 100%. I've been to the park a few times within the past few weeks and have used the Flashpass every time, mostly because it's very affordable.

The point is they are asking for money for something that used to be free. A good way to alienate customers, like me.

I've used Flashpass at SFHH, SFDK, SFGAdv, SFGAm, SFOG and SFOT.

In fact, we are going to SFGAdv in a couple of weeks and we will be using it yet again.

I don't look at it as "paying for something that used to be free" I look at it as "For only $10-$15 I won't have to wait in line which will free my time to do even MORE fun stuff"!!! SCORE!!!

Granted, the FP's inside the other parks aren't so affordable, but they are certainly worth it.

Strangely enough, I've never used FP at SFMM.

Difference is I already paid to get in...now I must pay more because someone has more money to spend then me?

For the most part too Six Flags charges sooo much that mainly the lines for FP never really ruins my dad because not enough people us it to make the line bad...but if you look capacity for these rides most don't get over 100 people an so allowing even 20 people ahead of you REALLY adds time to these rides
              Happy Halloween!!!

Re: Hurricane Harbor Runied with Flashpass...

The thing I hate about FP in the MM is that the people who use it don't just blend into the line like at DL, but they go to the front of a car say like Goliath. So you might have your whole group lined up to ride together, and then a group of 4 cuts right in front of you and your group now rides separately or many seats go empty for a ride. Which, adds to the low capacity that MM pushes through on rides.

Re: Hurricane Harbor Ruined with Flashpass...

Six Flags is "Buy a Day Get a Year Free".

Our family of 4 paid around $250 (TOTAL) for our "Combo" passes this year ... including parking.

I've personally gone up to the parks about 15 times this year, the rest somewhere between 5-10. To say our passes were an exceptionally good value would be an understatement. By the end of the year I'd go as far to say we paid $10 per visit between the rest of the summer at Hurricane Harbor, Fright Fest, etc.

Plus we are going to be using our passes at SFGAdv in a couple of weeks, maybe SFA and maybe SFDK later this summer.

^for the most park Six Flag is fun.....but the difference is Hurricane to me anyway has become just not worth going....the lines are longer....and no new slides in 7 years

I'd rather just pay more and get to go on the slides with no lines then pay nothing but wait for 30-hour for a 30 sec slide

Hurricane Harbor lost me at Flash Pass; I won’t go there till they get rid of that.
As I glide past older teens & young adults at The Queen Mary’s or Universal’s haunt events, I’m hiding behind one of my ascots or my “I’ve been to Machu Picchu & you haven’t.” T-shirt.

But at a water park we’re all practically naked (except for my Vail, Aspen & St. Moritz tattoos), and the lower classes I apologetically creep past can plainly see the absurdity of our class system revealed. The young kids glare confusedly as their parents try to explain our increasingly unjust America. The kids get it and resent it & me.

But hey, what a great time saver!

Going off topic here. Just went to SFDK this past Friday. Interesting park. Plus was the park was clean at opening, and last nights trash was picked up unlike SFMM. The lines were short, all trains running, and the new Superman ride had a surprisingly quick reload considering it has only one train.

                              Difference is
                              1) Disneyland has enough rides were even if some slow down you can get on it at SOME point in the day with no real line
                              2) Capacity of Disneyland rides are much higher...a slide allows one person (sometimes 4) and then they have to wait for it to be safe....then the loading of the next people...much slower system
                              3) ITS COSTS extra...unlike FP which is FREE to anyone with a ticket this is an extra charge...so for a season pass goer like my self it would make me pay 30-45 dollars more if I want to use it on more then one trip
                              Happy Halloween!!!

You also have to look at the attendance for each park. The average attendance for Disneyland is typically more than 20,000 with 60,000 being a busy day.

Hurricane Harbor's busiest days don't see more than 5,000 people. I'd say their typical day is probably around 2,000. So to bring up Disneyland's theoretical capacity to compare it to a water park doesn't compute.

Secondly, none of Disneyland's rides have a theoretical capacity as high as the Wave Pool or Lazy River at SFHH.

Yes but if say 100 people want to go on a slide...that can take upwards of an over an hour to get everyone on it...and there are what maybe 10 slides there?

Meaning if only 50 people want to go on one slide and each slide has that kinda line....that it only takes 500 people to make every ride have a 30-60 min wait

Disneyland has many rides like Small World, Pirates, mermaid...etc to get people to all be on the ride an not wait

The Lazy river is fine but not something I'm paying 30 bucks for...and the Wave pool closes like every 30 mins.......

I'm just saying all this system is doing is adding too many people to rides that have low capacity and making it where the people with more cash get to ride more.....not anything like the Free Fastpass system

I've gone to HH three times since they added the system.. The lines to get your inner tube have definitely been impacted by the Flash Pass.. Before the FP, none of the slides I ever recall really had to use switchback systems, but most of them are full in the summer now.

On the flip side, I did use the system once when my friends' family had bought them and I was with them, and must say, it's super awesome when you use it! SUCH a timesaver! You can just sit in the lazy river waiting for your ridetime without baking in line! Plus, its a good value for only $10! )

Interesting note: When I did buy it, the entire system went down for the waterpark for about half the day. Instead of refunding us all, they simply acted as "cut to the front immediately" passes! :yea:
