  • 1990 Universal Studios Tram Tour

I was watching an old youtube video of a USH Tram tour and at this spot,0:18 through 1:58, I was like what is this, it looks kewl. I'm wondering at what point in the tram was this spot before. What was it called? Because I want to see a big picture of it.

Earthquake was there in 1990. Actually, it was there in 1989 too because I went to Universal the day after my birthday that year and we went through the earthquake scene in the tram tour. Got pics of it too.

      *edit*

      That was Battlestar Galactia!

I have pics of that scene when I rode the tram in 1985.

This was actually the Battle of Galactica. It was there 1979-1992. It's actually where The Simpsons Ride (former Back to the Future) attraction building is now located. (more specifically what is now the building supports and understructure.)

This attraction believe it or not was the first themed attraction featuring audio animatronics outside of a Disney park, AND, was the first dark ride to incorporate audio animatronics, laser effects and live actors.

That was Battlestar Galactica, and it was by far my favorite part when I was a kid. I used to pretend I had a laser gun and would shoot the bad guys from the safety of my mom's lap.

Wow, even though I've never watched that show, I would so wish it was still at USH. I think that part is so tight. I was little then so I don't have a memory of it.

I was thinking about that the other day. I remember going through that area in 1991 and then didn't end up going back until after Back to the Future was open. I always wondered what happened to it, I thought it was a figment of my imagination for awhile there.

I got a chuckle when I saw the A-Team van at the beginning of the video.

Battlestar Galatica kinda reminds me of Conan the Barbarian stunt show. Live actors, lasers... then evolved to T2:3D.

I'm more fond of Conan than BG.

Didn't they have falling rocks on that same hill where Simpsons/BTTF is??

I've got a picture of myself "lifting" up the A-Team van.

Yeah, I'd take on Mr. T if I had the chance! :lmao:

If you saw Beverly Hills Cop 3 and recall seeing some star wars type robots shooting a gun, they were the AA's from Battlestar Galactia.

I'll have to dig out some of my old photo's from the Tram tour. We first took the tour in 1985 and haven't missed a year since.

Yep. And it was filmed in the Earthquake scene.

Speaking of which, the Earthquake is in part 2 of the video the OP posted.

Yeah, also some guests of USH were pretty hot about being left off at the lower area where the A-Team van as well as may other props were on display. The Tram dropped you off and then you had to wait in line for (hopefully) the next one to be able to leave.

Of course, USH had a food stand down there for the guests' "convenience".

Today, that area still exists. It is next to the Prop warehouse. While on the Tram route, as you raise up from the parting of the waters, look to your left as you pass the exterior props. Behind them is the original lower drop off area. The big phone from the Lilly Tomlin movie is still there.
