  • HHN Orlando vs. Hollywood

I might be going to the Hollywood one this year if I can get a day off. However, I was wondering how the Hollywood and Orlando ones compare to each other? I know Orlando has more mazes, but lacks the Terror Tram and Jurassic Park in the Dark. Which one is scarier?

If you have a completely free choice, go to Orlando. With 6 mazes, 2 shows, and numerous scarezones that are overall higher in quality throughout the significantly larger park, it stomps all over Hollywood. Although Hollywood is partly handicapped because of its size and proximity to LA and the actual studio.

Jurassic Park is really not at all different, but is still a really cool ride in the dark, much better than day time I think.

And the terror tram is an amazing experience that you cannot get at Orlando, it definitely raises the event to a whole 'nother level, which keeps it at the top, at least for me, of all the SoCal Halloween events.

Thanks for the reply, I am definitely going to Hollywood's because of Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy at DL. I was just wondering about the differences between the two HHN events.

Orlando has: 8 haunted houses, 6 scarezones and 2 shows.

Hollywood has: 4 haunted houses, 6 scarezones, 2 shows and the Terror Tram.

Since the actual content of each event is different every year, these are the only differences that can be quantified. Which event you prefer will probably come down to whether you'd rather see the Terror Tram or 4 more houses, unless you're willing to get into an in-depth comparison of specific houses, shows, etc.

Then there's also the fact that Orlando's has become a big drunken mess in recent years.

            Orlando: Alcohol
            Hollywood: No Alcohol

I just went to HHN at USH this last Saturday.

I didn't get to ride Jurassic Park. The lines were just too long. In fact that is probably my major complaint with Universal's event (as compared to the event held at Knott's). There were long lines for everything.

But the Terror Tram was incredible. I didn't even really go on it for a scare. The whole point of it is to get up close to the Bates Motel and the Bates House, and to walk through the destruction with the crashed 747 in The War of the Worlds. I remember being amazed that what I was walking past was literally used in one of the greatest horror movies ever made. That in and of itself is something Universal Orlando cannot match.

It really wasn't that scary. I have never been to the Orlando version, but I have hear that it is much more scary and the mazes are much better themed. But I was thrilled to be actually walking in the areas where they make the movies we all have seen. It was a really incredible experience.

Not to take away from the tram experience itself, but the Bates Motel has actually been demolished and relocated several times since Psycho was filmed. I'm not sure why they didn't salvage the original.

So you are saying the current one is purely a replication?
