That song has been around A LOT longer than DHS XD, Who ever buys the rights to it can use it freely as they wish.

The song "Hooray for Hollywood" has been around since 1937. It was originally featured in the movie "Hollywood Hotel". So yeah it's been around WAY longer than the DHS park... by 52 years.

Except that my understanding is that version of the song was recorded by Disney. Universal uses Hooray for Hollywood too...but it is a very different version. That song has the cues for the beginning of Great Movie Ride.

Everyone can use the song, but not everyone can use each other's version of the song. But maybe I am wrong.

Am I the only one who found that ad kind of weird? Skeletor, Princess Fiona and Alex the Lion? And a guy on fire at the end? Amusing, but weird.
And that particular arrangement of "Hooray For Hollywood", with the orchestra tuning up at the begining did sound like the version from "The Great Movie Ride".

In case you are not aware, Universal Studios Singapore will be opening to the public on 18th of March, at 8.28am, something to do with fengshui

Most of the rides will be open, but may be suspended from time to time.

Confirm rides not opening will be Madascar.

I may try to make it there, if I manage to buy the tickets.

                        Great report there!!

I was HOPING to be living in Singapore by the time this thing happened, but didnt quite work out. I been to all the Universal parks worldwide, so this is on my list as well. If I don't move back to Asia this year, I'm thinking of saving my money so next year I will do a round trip tour of TDR and USS after Transformers open!

And I think its funny you compare everything to TDR lol. Yeah, a beautiful place and I been there multiple times as well and cant wait to go back. I havent been there since 2007. Also I been USJ twice as well and LOVED it!! Its hands down the best US park to me although I like IOA better simply because it has more thrill rides, but they both have Spiderman, so not a bad deal eitherway.

I'm curious, do you live in Asia somewhere like Japan or Singapore or someplace else? I assume since you bought an AP, you live close enough.

That song was around for decades before DHS came about. Its been around since the Hollywood studio system was around.

Thanks for the kind comments, all.

Yes, I'm based in Singapore, but I've stayed a few years in Japan and been back there about once every year since. Before USS, TDR and USJ are kinda like the only theme parks I've been to.

I'm really impressed with the polish of TDR - not just how well they maintained the park, but the execution of their parades, shows and events. Legend of Mythica, Braviseamo! and Candlelight Reflections were incredible. Everything just flowed so smoothly. In that respect, I think USS still has a bit of catching up to do.

I'll definitely go back to USS once Madagascar opens as my kid loved the boat rides in TDR (Small World, Sinbad, and even Pirates). In fact, I might be dropping by again this Sat! If so, I'll give a short update - though nothing much would have changed.

Wow lucky you! Yeah, I use to teach English in Tokyo so went to TDR often!! Trying to get to Singapore now, not for teaching, but PR job, but its becoming more of a challenge than I thought.

Anyway, I agree TDR is GREAT at what they do and I been to every Disney resort and originally from L.A. where I'm now and I think TDR is hands down the best maintained and serviced orientated resort out of all of them. Disneyland HAS improved a lot over the last few years with new management so about a tie. But there is something about TDR cast members that go above the call of duty. Its great to see.

BTW, can you give us a review on the rest of Sentosa World? I been to Singapore a few times before actually and I remember the original Sentosa island and cheesy isnt exactly the word for what use to be there. Before the USS deal, I never thought I would EVER go back, but now cant wait lol. So whats the rest like? For example Festive Walk, what is that like at night? Does it have any real night life on it? I dont care about the casino, not really a gambler, but any reports of the island would be appreciated that you seen.
