Wow, some really great professional, and home-video of Transformers 3 being filmed currently in Chicago. Transformers will remain in the windy city for a week then it's off to Milwaukee, then D.C. But first, what every Gen1 has been waiting, and can't believe... Is that Prime with his classic gen1 trailer??? YES!!!

Transformers 3 shoot is wrapping up at the Milwaukee Art Museum, then it's back to the 'windy city,' below are some video links of some lucky people who captured the filming of Transformers 3. This film will indeed be in 3D, Bay is using the latest in HD-3D cameras, better and smaller cameras then James Cameron used for Avatar.

Re: Transformers 3 - Filming in Chicago!

Little is known about what Transformers 3 is really about, by this time the plot is leaked, but the entire crew has signed agreements. From what I gather, from news sources so far, part 3 will be less comical. Bay said in a recent interview that his intention is to make Transformers 3 not necessarily larger than Revenge of the Fallen, but instead go deeper into the mythos, give it more character development, make it darker & more emotional. During the release of the Revenge of the Fallen on Blu-ray, screen writer Roberto Orci said he would like to introduce Unicron "for scale's sake," and Unicron is seen during the Transformers 3 preview video in the Revenge of the Fallen Blu-ray edition, but no comment is made on the subject if indeed Unicron will show up. Those who seen the animated version back in the day, know who Unicron is, he's like the Devil of the Transformers universe =)

What's known for sure, there's 3 modified NASCAR Chevrolet Impala stock cars resembling those of Juan Pablo Montoya (#42 Target), Dale Earnhardt, Jr. (#88 AMP Energy/National Guard) and Jimmie Johnson (#48 Lowe's/Kobalt) were spotted in Chicago recently being chased by the Autobots and are believed to be Decepticons. Shockwave, the popular purple laser canon with one yellow eye is the Decepticons' military operations commander, Shockwave is second in command next to Megatron. Devastator is said to return as well, which leads us to...

The Autobots, Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Ratchet, Ironhide and Sideswipe have been confirmed to return. The Twins will be killed off (hence killing off the crude humor). Couple of new Autobots too, like one transforming into a Ferrari 458 Italia, and Silverbolt (voiced by James Avery), one of the Autobot-allied 'Aerialbots.' This had led to some speculation that the Aerialbots (a group of 5 Autobots that transform into airplanes and all combine as 1 to form the giant robot, Superion) will show up in part 3 giving Devastor a big foe to fight with. The Dinobots were suppose to be in part 2 and the creators said they will be saved for part 3.

Time will tell but since a lot fans of Gen1 complained about part 2, it see seems the writers are staying true with original cartoon television mythology. Prime is finally towing his Gen1 trailer, so there's hope among other things. As mentioned before, the film will be shot entirely with HD-3D PACE cameras rather than converting the footage into 3D during post-production like the very bad Clash of the Titans. The film will be shot for IMAX 3D as well, this only means Industrial Light & Magic has HUGE job on there hands. The creation of Devastator literally crashed some MAC computers, that's unheard of!

Bay said this will be the last Transformers film, the book end of a closed trilogy. I find this hard to believe.

I assume he'll leave a small opening for the ride at the end of the movie.

I've seen the first one but not the second because I heard it was utter crap. But since Mr. Bay has talked about more character development and the rumor I heard of Megan Fox possibly not being in there kind of makes me want to see it. Time will tell if I want to or not.

A photo was taken of the cut-outs of the faces of Soundwave, & Shockwave (the one red eye) during a action sequence, these are used of course for actors as a line of sight.

Now its starting to look like the classic Transformers =)

Filming continues in the 'Windy City' for Transformers 3. Here's some recent videos capturing the production. Including a new Autobot has been spotted on the set, and the new official teaser one sheet poster has been photographed.

Transformers speeding down streets, explosions, people running & screaming. Another day on the TF3 set.

Re: Transformers 3 - Filming in Chicago!

Not even downtown Los Angeles saw this much action when the original climax showdown was filmed off Broadway (not to say this is the final showdown for part 3). Today marks the last day of filming for Transformers 3 at the Old Post Office Building location, which have been filming since last week. Which this photo was taken, see LaBeouf?

                      Little more boom

Little is still known about what part 3 is about, Bay still continues toss fake plot points around, and one little plot point is true. The humans aren't happy with the Transformers being on Earth, not even with the Autobots and want them to go back. I don't think the Decepticons would the easy one's to persuade, LOL. A "Go Home Transfomers" campaign seems to be happening, has this sign (photographed) suggests. This photo was shot back in May in downtown Los Angeles when filming began back in May.

Also back in May, Shia was promoting Wall Street 2 at the Cannes Film Festival, and talked about Transformers 3. Is it me or does he seem more cocky then ever?

Can't wait for the new film to hit the cinemas...and the ride to open at Universal Hollywood! I would imagine that there will be a ride teaser for theater audiences, as well as on the subsequent DVD.

Michael Bay & crew continue the production of Transformers 3 in Chicago but this time filming was centered at/around the LaSalle Street Bridge over the weekend. The site was very much in destructive mode of course, with fire, debris, and explosions. Poles with the heads of Bumblebee, and Megatron were spotted on site.

After news broke out that a casting call was announced in Detroit, Michigan some time ago (which no official date of filming has been announced except a time frame of couple of weeks). Now comes news that the Motion Picture & Television Development in Washington D.C. as made a casting call bulletin for Transformers 3 (Casting Calls), when production of the film arrives in September/October.

Back in May/June, DC denied Paramount/Dreamworks permission to film on location at "The Mall" (the long green lawn surrounded by government & Smithsonian buildings) because of the use of "explosions" but was soon granted permission. Some kind of NASCAR race will take place in that area, the use of explosions to be scaled down is anyone's guess but I guess D.C. was worried about how the locals (especially the unexpected) would mistake the excitement of explosions as a terrorist attack. Since, no film in history, if my memory serves my right, has ever filmed LIVE special effect explosions on site of "The Mall" before. Time will tell to see what Bay will get away with.

A bad*** looking Mad Max looking truck has been spotted on the set of Transformers 3 in Chicago. Is that the decepticon Onslaught? The leader of the Combaticons (a 5 individual military decepticon team), that combine & transform into the mega robot, Bruticus?

Here's what Onslaught looked in animation form, in robot mode...

Those who don't remember him and the Combaticons, they were created by Starscream, when he wanted to create his own army. When they all combined as Bruticus, he was stronger then Devastator! To refresh your memory, here's a video profile...

The crew is being tight lip about who that truck is, they are confirming its a transformer, and a Mad Max looking tank, a military helicopter, military jeep have been spotted too... OMG, my pants are getting wet, LOL.

Meanwhile on the other side of Chicago, filming continues...

Man, I'm starting to get the feeling that a third time just might be the charm. Prime finally gets his generation 1 trailer. Shockwave is in the film looking like the Shockwave we all know. Soundwave is said to have his familiar look in robot mode on Earth. The Aerialbots, the 5 autobot jets that combine into Superion is said to be in the film as well, and now sightings of what might be the decepticons, Combaticons? The best part, less human interaction, with the robots getting all the lime light (as they should be) to tell this next installment.

Maybe Bay finally read all the hate mail, and Spielberg is leaning over his shoulder? =)

                                    The 411 so far...

                                    Title: Transformers 3 (may change)
                                    Director: Michael Bay
Producers: Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Ian Bryce & Steven Spielberg
Executive Producers: Steven Spielberg & Michael Bay
                                    Writers: Ehren Kruger
Visual Effects Companies: ILM (Industrial Light & Magic, a division of Lucasfilm Ltd), and Digital Domain (a visual effects/animation company founded by James Cameron, Scott Ross, Stan Winston)
                                    Budget: $200 million
Release Date: (A partial solar eclipse will occur on July 1, 2011 by the way)

                                    Plot points:
After the major complaints from the sequel, Steven Spielberg enforced the promise of the return of the core mythology from the Generation 1 animated series, with more character development with the Transformers, and better story telling. With that in mind, Sam Witwicky (LaBeouf) takes his first tenuous steps into adulthood while remaining a reluctant human ally of Optimus Prime, like the television series. The film is more of a mystery, Bay says. 'It ties in what we know as history growing up as kids with what really happened." In addition, Autobots "Go Home" campaign...
is a plot point of the film.

                                    Lead Cast:
                                    Shia LaBeouf - Sam Witwicky

Note: Transformers 2 set the record for most special effect memory, with over 150 terabytes of disk space on a MAC (which melted a few MAC processors). While the first Transformers took up only 15 terabytes. Compare that to James Cameron 'Avatar' that only took 68 terabytes worth of memory. With Transformers 3, ILM has invested over 500 terabytes of disk memory!

Re: Transformers 3 - Filming in Chicago!

Filming is still going on in the windy city. Over the past weekend and leading to this week. Filming has been spotted at a parking garage at Lake and Wabash Street. Here's a small video clip of prepping in that area...
                                      [ame=]YouTube - Transformers 3 FIlming Chicago Wabash and Lake[/ame]
Meanwhile, a side note, Transformers 3 spent the weekend over in Gary, Indiana again. Filming on Monday with scenes involving a crumbling City Methodist Church. According to the Post-Tribune, Michael Bay was directing Tyrese Gibson and NEST characters, as they "argued about the alien robot war erupting around them."

Filming then resumed back in the city of Chicago past few days back at the Wabash and Lake Parking Deck. Where Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley where taking directions from Michael Bay. What's interesting at this shoot, Shia is seeing having some sort of "power-glove" on his left hand.

Here's videos from different angles of that same location...

This has nothing to do with the film but I found it very funny...

Something you don't see everyday, plus at first glance, I didn't even notice the cross on Optimus's head. Don't even know where this was taken but using "transform" to lure kids into church, with free snacks afterward. Mmmm. At first I thought it was the first Transformers church, LOL.
