  • Universal Studios Hollywood offering montly payment AP's

I'm not sure if this has been reported anywhere on Miceage/chat, but I was checking out USH's AP website today and I noticed that they are now doing montly payment plans for AP's.
The offer applies only to the Premium and No Block-Out pass and is open only to SoCal residents

You pay $30 upfront for either pass and $5.82 or $9.45 per month depending on which one you choose.

Well Universal did it first out here in Orlando. DLR is just copying that very successful model. I am not sure why they didn't do it sooner in Hollywood.

Nice! I jumped the gun a bit

I find it interesting that Universal would offer their AP's on a payment plan. I thought the park was already flooded with annual pass holder's because of their "Buy a Day get a Year Free" promotion.

The monthly payment plan was probably rolled out later on the west coast due to lower demand for a monthly plan. The price points of the USH Annual Passes are much lower than those in Orlando. As alluded by Zorro825, the "Buy a Day, Get a Year Free" promotion is currently priced at $74.99. Whereas the cheapest USO/IOA AP is currently more than double that at $159.99. For Florida park visitors, I can easily see why the monthly payments are appealing, especially as you move up to the higher-tiered passes. And you are getting admission for TWO parks in Orlando, so the higher price point is worth it.

Back here at USH, I think the monthly payment plan will be appealing to those who are buying passes for whole families. Being able to spread out the costs of multiple passes (even if the single AP price is cheap) might attract more purchasers.

P.S. KingEric - I definitely appreciate your various updates of USO/IOA. It's good to see what's going on over there!

Well this definitely confirms for me that I'm going to wait until Transformers opens to renew my AP.
