  • Madagascar ride at Universal Singapore?

Has anyone heard any more on this ride? I know they had some issues with the ride system and then some of the AA's, and then there was a fire awhile back that damaged some stuff in the ride, but has anyone heard any new news? I remember hearing it was supposed to open this spring or summer. I'm just really curious to see what this ride looks like.

    Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

    *EDIT*

Ha I just answered my own question. According to this, Universal announced today the ride is finally opening next Monday, May 16th:

Early reviews seem to be negative on Madagascar. There are at least four projection screens showing scenes from the film... if I wanted to watch the movie, I'd play the DVD at home. The animatronics are practically immobile, and there are no drops (evidently a second level hill was cut from the ride for budget reasons). Sounds like a disappointment so far.

The second level and the drop were built and then removed due to technical reasons.

Gotta remember that video was from when technical rehearsals were still going on. The ride officially opened yesterday, so they had a few days to tweak things. While the AA's themselves *look* good, the limited movement is indeed disappointing. And they only have spotlights on them when they speak/do their thing. I think the Looney Tunes water ride at various Six Flags parks do this too.

This ride is basically the first movie in 7 minutes. Heh. I'm just glad my curiosity has been satisfied as I've been wondering about this ride for months.

I think it is a great family ride with 0 drops. Something young and old can do together. I want to see more of this here in the States. Obviously here I would like to see more movement etc, but overall I want to see more family rides at Universal.

I feel that Madagascar is an overrated film and I don't get how it became popular enough to warrant a multi-film franchise AND a whole theme park land. Now if this was a land themed to "Kung Fu Panda" that would've been a whole nother story.

I can see how this ride can be appealing enough. But I think they should've made this the rapids ride and used the original drop ride format (that's what I keep thinking since they do call this the "crate adventure" for their Jurassic Park ride. Just my thoughts.
