I paid a visit to Universal Studios Hollywood last Saturday to take in the Grinchmas 2012 offerings. Some photos are below:
Upon entering the park, you may encounter some Whos from Whoville for photo opportunities.

They all have unique personalities which make for fun meet and greets.

I then went straight to the tram tour so I could see the Whoville on the Backlot show.

The Whoville show is a very cute 2 min. stop during the tram tour and a terrific seasonal addition to Universal Studios!
Late in the afternoon, I queued up for the very popular Tree Lighting ceremony. These pics were from the 3rd show with celebrity reader, Alison Sweeney (The Biggest Loser, Days of our Lives).

"...and the Grinch's small heart grew three sizes that day."

I love the very large, very whimsical Whoville tree and this show! They don't call it a "Tree Lighting" for nothing!
Overall, I really enjoy the Grinchmas promotion at Universal Studios. During the day, you can play in real snow in The Grinch's Winter Playground--which is the same location for the Tree Lighting ceremony. If playing in the snow is important to your family, make sure to get there early enough in the day. Last Saturday, the Winter Playground closed at 3:30pm, so they could prep the area for the first Tree Lighting ceremony. The times may vary from day-to-day, but they will always need time to switch from Playground to show mode.
And there is a lot of other entertainment that is unique to the Christmas season in Universal Studios: various buskers on Baker Street, Mrs. Claus and the Santa Dolls, and of course, Christmas Carolers. All of the above made for a really wonderful day in the park!
