  • NBC's TODAY show live broadcast May 23rd

Just got an email from UOR stating that any Universal Annual Pass holder can show up at USF by 7am on May 23rd for a live broadcast of NBC's TODAY show. Those that don't get a seat can still enjoy some park attractions until the regular opening time. My guess is that they'll be holding it in the Animal Actor's stage which does have a large seating capacity.

100th coaster: Phantom's Revenge at Kennywood
    150th coaster: Intimidator at Carowinds

Re: NBC's TODAY show live broadcast May 23rd

Well, I went to the live broadcast today and they weren't doing a full show from USF in light of the recent tragedy in Moore, OK. I got there at about 6:30am and our group was escorted through the hot set to our viewing location which was in back of everyone else that was invited by the TODAY Show.

They were moving cameras around which appeared to be practice runs for some sweeping shots of the audience, Universal globe, and other shots. Then most of the show hosts that were there came out before they went on air to talk with the crowd.

I watched as they did their show ad then Al Roker came our to do his weather and show bits.

Here's Al watching Universal's street breakdance team doing their show.

At this point I was thanking god the Universal Team Members put us annual pass holders in the shady spots as the sun was really beating down on the crowds across the way that were invited by the TODAY Show.

Then Universal brought out just about all their costumed characters.

Beetle Bailey, Olive Oil and Popeye, the Simpsons, Scooby Doo with Fred Velma Shaggy and Monica (I believe), Curious George and the man in the yellow hat, Gru and his Minions, Woody Woodpecker and his girlfriend, Bullwinkle, Optimus Prime, Bumble Bee, Megatron, and many more. Even the Terminator with John and Sarah Connor made and appearance. It was a fun experience watching at live broadcast at USF, I'd been to tapings of Amercia's Funniest Home Videos and Planets Funniest Animals before at USF years ago but I've never been to a live show, until now.

At ten o'clock, the show moved from the entrance plaza to just inside the park on Hollywood Blvd. At this point I decided to go have fun at the park, especially since Despicable Me, Shrek 4D, and the Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit rides were all at a five to ten minute wait.

I hope those characters become available in the parks for meet and greets. I've nerver seen Rocky and Bullwinkle and would love to, The Terminator and John and Sarah Connor would be awesome too.
      Great update, Thanks.
