For those not familiar with San Francisco, the tourist attractions at Fishermans Wharf and Pier 39 are extremely close. So if you are traveling with people whose first interest may not be Walt Disney, there are attractions close by that they should enjoy. Also, as mentioned in the article, The Golden Gate Bridge is nearby along with the Civil War era fort at Fort Point.

Re: Attractions Close to Walt Disney Family Museum
The Presidio itself is also an attraction. Miles and miles of roads to explore on foot or car; admire all the beautiful houses; and there are also hidden gardens and playgrounds scattered throughout. Crissy Field, by the water's edge, is immensely popular, and you can also drive right up underneath the Golden Gate Bridge, which is a stone's throw from the museum.
Palace of Fine Arts and Exploratorium I also recommend; Fisherman's Wharf, I think, is getting a bit tacky, but go for the vibe, and if you want good seafood, head south to Half Moon Bay.
South of Fishermans Wharf you can find Coit Tower, Ghiradelli Square, and Lombard Street (a crooked, but not the crookedest) street in San Francisco.
