  • Report on 10/22 visit

Wow! What a terrific surprise the WDFM was for us. We thought it would be a nice place to drop by for a 2 hour visit...and we ran out of time after 5 hours there...still a lot of things I would have liked a closer look at, or more time to contemplate.

The first couple of galleries were not all that interesting for our 9 year old girl, but after we got upstairs and into the start of Walt's animation career she was as rapt as we were.

The giant model of Disneyland is as terrific as I had hoped, but there are so many other highlights among the exhibits, including lots of little items and exhibits that add significantly to the picture of Walt that emerges as you make your tour. You can't help but feel a tremendous sense of loss as you enter the last gallery, and try to reconcile the astounding creativity and life's work of this man with the suddenness of his death.

The whole museum is an absolutely first rate operation.

My only complaint would be the cafeteria - it's ok, but it seems quite inadequate for a museum of this scope, and I suspect that the museum will soon need to expand it in size and offerings.

Other than that - the WDFM gets my highest recommendation.

Unfortunately - The greeter at the door told us "no pictures inside the museum"...so, alas, no pictures for us to post.
