  • Craft and Summer Camp Programs at the Walt Disney Family Museum

Attention all you Northern California folks, the Walt Disney Family Museum is launching a couple of new programs that may be of interest to you and your kids.
Flash Animation for Teens and Finger Painting for Big Kids:
New Classes start on April 17 at
The Walt Disney Family Museum in the Presidio
Walt Disney Family Museum Discovery Summer Camp:
Exploring Everything from Storyboarding to Sound Design

San Francisco, CA, April 5, 2010 - Two things are certain about the life of Walt Disney as you tour The Walt Disney Family Museum on the Main Post in San Francisco’s Presidio. He was a master storyteller and he was an early adapter of leading film technologies. From the first color cartoon to the invention of the first multi-plane camera, Walt pushed the technological limits of storytelling in film. In the pursuit of quality entertainment, he surrounded himself with the best artists, painters and illustrators in the business.

In the months ahead, the Museum will continue to follow that legendary lead by offering an innovative line-up of classes in Art, Animation and Computer technology. Starting April 17, kids, teens and adults will have a chance to discover their potential as budding artists or filmmakers.

Flash Animation 101: A weekend class for Teens (age 14-17): April 17 – June 12. 9:00 am – 12:00 pm. Over 7 Saturdays, students will learn the Adobe Flash application in order to create their own creative animations for video and web.

Intro to Painting /Finger Painting for Big Kids: 7 Saturdays for Adults. April 17 – June 12. 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm. Learn painting at its most fundamental; stretch a canvas, mix colors, experiment with acrylic paints, oils, pastels, water colors and colored pencils.

In June 2010, the WDFM will open the doors of the Art Studio and Media Studio for the inaugural Walt Disney Family Museum Discovery Summer Camp. Classes will provide campers with rare hands-on experience in animation, claymation, sound effects and design, to name just a few.
