  • [Review] Just Do It -- Go to the Walt Disney Family Museum!

We recently had a cruise stopover in San Francisco. We decided to devote the morning to the Walt Disney Family Museum, and are so glad we did!

We walked from the embarcadero area to the Presidio where the museum is located. We later found that there is a free shuttle that serves the Presidio area, with stops throughout the city. PresidiGo Shuttle - Presidio of San Francisco

We spent about two hours inside the museum, but could have spent much more time. The galleries are chockfull of interesting detail, and one really comes away with an appreciation of Walt Disney's creativity and joie de vive. Lots of posts around these boards have tried to put Mr. Disney in a nutshell as "a businessman." Wow, is that ever short of the mark. After a day at the Walt Disney Family Museum, my thought is that he was more of a Renaissance man than a businessman.

Also at the museum was a special exhibit of photography by George Hurrell. He has always been my favorite portrait photographer, and I never knew that he had been married to a Disney niece. This special exhibit was an extra treat for us.

In short..go, go, go. You will love it and learn so much. The Presidio area is lovely, and the available transportation makes it convenient to visit. This is a must-do for any Disney fan.
