  • Northern California Toys For Tots Meet

Since the folks down south are organizing a Toys for Tots meet I thought those of us up north could do the same.

I am going to contact the local representatives from TFT to get the details together but thought I'd post to see the interest level.

I was thinking around December 8th or so ?

Location may depend on where the local dropoff locations are. I'd be glad to serve as coordinator to take the donations in.

So let me know what y'all think.

This is a very good cause folks, we should give back a little to the kids.

That's a totally awesome thing, good luck with that.

Do any of the parks up there (Discovery Kingdom, Great America, Bonfante, etc) do any kind of special deal with Toys for Tots? If so, it might be neat to do a day at a park while your at it.

I've heard that Bonfante's holiday decorations are something to behold. We always make plans to go up there to see them, but never get around to it.

I will do a little research this weekend and see what I can come up with. I'll call the Marines on Tuesday (I assume they will be busy Monday).

This sounds like a great idea. This is something my son and I do every year.

So are there any thoughts on where ?

I'd like to try and find somewhere good for everyone, maybe Modesto/Tracy area or something.

Ok I will be calling the TFT rep tomorrow or Wed (depending on when my phone gets fixed).

Is there any preference between Dec 8th or 15th (assuming a Sat meet is our best bet).

Does anyone have thoughts on where to have the meet ?

We could do a meal meet or a movie meet.

Or is there a holiday event we could plan ?

Re: Northern California Toys For Tots Meet

While a movie might be fun, a meal gives us time to visit.

I agree that either a meal or some holiday event (I don't know if somewhere has great decorations or something to do).

Once I get coordinated we can start nailing down a specific date but let me know if 8th or 15th is better for yall

Ok folks, we need to get to picking a time and place.

Perhaps as before the Concord/etc area would be a nice midpoint for us all. There are also some drop points in that area for TFT.

So we have I think one vote for the 8th and one for the 15th.

Anyone else have a day that will or won't work.

For those in the East Bay, is there something good to do in the area with a holiday theme ?

Maybe we should try to merge this thread and the Holiday meet thread.

Pixar is holding its annual "open house" fundraiser for the Emeryville Education Foundation on December 1.

It isn't the 8th or 15th but definitely fun. I have gone the last two years.

Ok since we need someone to make a decision I will appoint myself to do so

The meet will be on Saturday December 15th in the Dublin area.

We just need to settle on where.

Ice rink could work as long as we have places for those of us who can't skate LOL

There's a large indoor area with tables where people can sit and talk. For those who like it cold, theres sitting areas next to the ice as well.
