Gassy Fairies

Are the fireworks really just gassy, exploding fairies? After all, Tink leaves a sparkling trail behind her that she CLAIMS is "pixy dust". I believe that what we are seeing during the firework shows is a hoard of fairies/pixies who don't know how to control their bowels, or have just had WAY too much bad pork and beans.
