    Great Article Al,

I thought Jim might have jumped the gun a bit on this one. Like always!

Re: 12/13: Baby, It's Full Inside!

Great update! Interesting perspective on Matt and Greg and who did what. I for one was excited about Matt moving to WDW, and a possible repeat of his successes at the cruise line and at DL. Even if Matt wasn't the origin of many of the recent improvements in DL, he was the executive smart enough to hire someone who intimately knew the operational side of the business, while having enough business savvy to get what he needed from Disney corporate to accomplish his goals. I think he would have done a terrific job of bringing WDW up to speed. Now it's a crap shoot as to whether WDW gets someone of Ouimet quality or Pressler quality.

... or of Emmer quality? Dare we dream for Greg himself?

Dare we hope that Fast Track costuming will become a thing of the past? Will CMs get their permanent lockers back?

              Excellent.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...

Re: 12/13: Baby, It's Full Inside!

OK, this sentence jolted my brain awake:

"And of course there's all of the attention Matt has given Disneyland over the past 24 months, with a major new E Ticket set to open in '07, and plans for an additional Disneyland E Ticket by the end of the decade, plus a few smaller rides and major new entertainment for both Disneyland and DCA."

WHOA! "An Additional Disneyland E Ticket by the end of the decade" has not been rumored about for a long, long time! Plus, "smaller rides and major new entertainment" isn't exactly in the same league as Incredibles robocoaster or Cars/Test Track for the DCA expansion.

Can you elaborate, Al, on what has happened to Incredibles for DCA? We all know that Cars/TT got shelved, back in October, and that the Incredibles E Ticket was put back on the table, with a customized ride system being considered as a robocoaster replacement.

Have the plans for a new E Ticket for DCA fallen by the wayside now?

Thank you Al and congratulations on 3 years. Kevin, Sue, Ian, yourself, and all the guest columns really make MiceAge a highly credible (and entertaining) site.

Great news on Cast Member Matt, I had been warned about this issue too and was worried when I saw the rumor spread from one site to another. Funny how sites pick up each others rumors and then report them as fact.

I second the motion requesting more info on a Disneyland E Ticket and more on what may be planned for the Downtown Disney expansion (are they perhaps moving the Adventurers Club here?).

Here's to another fantastic 3 years at MiceAge! CHEERS

                    Wow, great update...

Thanks for dispelling the rumors and giving us more info on Emmer...

Um, I think one of the big events that brought the numbers up this year wasn't just that 50th... But that Space Mountain is operational again... I know people who stayed away simply because Space was gone... And I agree without Space Mountain, Disneyland feels like half a park...

Finally people have a reason to go to Tomorrowland... It is still not fully operational, but it is better than it was before...

                      Great article Al!

I'm left with a lingering concern ........ we may have some assurances of CM Matt's willingness to live an anonymous existence in the Westcoast OC, but what about CM Greg? There is a vacuum in Florida management, which must have some effect on the man .........

I wonder if Disney would consider a brief "tax" or surcharge (or a deposit redeemable for food/merchandise in the park) on Premium APs in order to keep attendance to more manageable levels? Or are they happy hitting capacity night after night? Assuming their staffing woes are still in effect, every cash register with a person behind it is probably at "capacity" long before the fire marshall makes them close the gate.

When things get that insanely crowded, they could be losing future business ......

Re: 12/13: Baby, It's Full Inside!

So much good news in this update! I normally don't comment, but I hoped the Ouimet rumours were just that, and it appears there are. I can see why CM Matt would enjoy the challenges DLR has to offer, especially where DCA is concerned. Its great to know that even after the 50th is over, Disneyland will still get the attention is has always deserved.

I am happy to hear that Fast Track may be on its way out. I know for a fact that this system made it too easy for CM's to keep dozens of costumes at home. With new costumes being rolled out for many areas of the park, this will certainly save them from replacing "lost" costume pieces. However, I think they will have to get a handle on "Presenteeism" before they can get rid of this program. If they are having a hard time getting people to even show up for their shifts, I doubt they will have much luck getting people to show up even earlier to check out their costumes and change into them. I know this is how it used to be, but a whole generation of CM's will have to add that extra 15-30 minutes to their day. It would be a change for the better I think, and maybe instill more pride in the CM's.

                          Thanks for the update!
